Over the course of the game, many of them tend to acquire 'nicknames', like "the Builder" or "the Killer", but how do I see their real names after that?

I'm not sure you can.... Perhaps by looking at the family tree?
Yep, nicknames there, as well.
Heh, most of the characters in my current game only have daughters. And to make matters "worse", in this instance, I'm using Rome: Total Realism, with cognomens and everything - and I'm bad enough at remembering names, as it is.
Maybe, there's a way to turn off this nickname-giving mechanic altogether? It seems somewhat out of place, anyway - we aren't playing from a perspective of some pleb, after all.![]()
If you want to turn the name thing off, you'll have to go to the modding forums, I think.
Will do.
Same prob I had,you have to ahem,go back to old save games if you have them BEFORE the name change, and or look at family tree for any sons born,as they have surnames before Coming of Age. You can remove these nicknames as it is in the 'ephitaphs'(spelling) section of trait descriptions text. Can't recall exact files..
