I've never made it to the Americas in Medieval II. I'm about to start a new campaign (maybe as the Moors). Do all of the playable factions in the game have ships that are capable of making it to the Americas?
Thank you again!

Yup, every faction can get to the new world.

be careful, it can be brutal. First time I went there I sent 2 stacks of english knights and retinue longbowmen and they rushed me with a couple stacks. Well I only had 1 stack land to the south but at least the 2nd one took all of north america and cuba. They are EASY, establish a base there first
If you play the Moors just bring a stack of camel gunners over to the New World. That should do the trick.![]()
Officer to a soldier who refuses to fight: There three types of soldiers who don't have to fight. They are called KIA, MIA and POW and you are not one of them.
Tosa will be missed.
I've never been there either, how much of america is available? And how many regions?
There are 5 or six regions I believe. Cuba and Florida are rebels and can be captured without ease. In the south is Fortaleza which is a waste of time. In the center there are IRC two, three or four Aztec regions with a lot of guys dressed as chickens. They have armor piercing capable troops that scare infantry. Bring along some fire power and some horses and it is a piece of cake.
There are lot of threes over there. I mean a lot, a very lot, an awefull , lot of them![]()

playing ireland. easy until the aztecs. I start out taking the northern one after establishing america and the carribean. taxacla or something like that, I take it with the best Ireland has to offer and then struggle to hold it. in the cam I lost tax 5 times and regained it (auto-d the battles) The last time I was way outnumbered against some solid units and took control of the defense myself. outnumbered 2-1 the bonus I had was that they had 2 half stack armies and the one out front didnt wait for the other to come all the way around before attacking. I was barely able to hold off the initial attack and then sat waiting for the other half of the army. Unfortunately the whole other half stack was their elite. I took my general and 2 units of merchant cav and charged them again and again. ended up with 15 general, 3 merchant cav and 14 merchant cav but I had routed them......
except a unit of elite had gone the other way and were walking in the front door before I noticed. unfortunately for them, they took a beating initially from javelin throwers and walkin ginto the maw of my 4 soldier of gold chevron muire, yes only four were left to fight. They turned tail and ran. VICTORY....it broke their power (priests had made the middle settlement turn rebel) and no units left.
If you want to get to the New Wor,d, buy Kingdoms so you can start a campaign there. Playing M2TW, you have to wait until way, way after you should have won the game in order to go.
One question: How come other factions (AI) do not land on islands or other continents? Like if I'm England I NEVER get other faction diplomats by London or whatever. Also, how come AI doesn't put armies and ships and conquer the new world? It's always mine for the grabbing and i don't have to worry about others trying to conquer the new world!
You should play Portugal or Spain, because they have the best navy and position: Caravel and Grand Carrack.
If you choose any other faction, won´t be easy to reach America's or impossible.
And Portugal and Spain can recruit conquistadores and Dismouted conquistadores in Americas if you capture any settlements there. They can destroy the aztecs in no time.
PS: Are you sure that other facitons can made it to America's??? Anyway, if you choose one of these two factions, you will certaintly conquer the New World. I made it to America´s with Portugal.

When you get there, bring a hell of a lot of cavalry. Send 5 fleets, 1 with a small army to the north west to attack north America and Cuba, 1 to the south west with a small army to storm Brazil and finally 3 ships filled to the brim with heavy cavalry to attack Mexico (with generals too and 1 unit of cannons to blast through walls). The land is designed so that you cannot land on Mexico from the east or south, instead you must drop your troops off on the northern shore and fight your way south through the Aztec hordes. You can conquer Tlaxcala in the north first, then from there strike the next Aztec settlement and finally attack the final settlement; the city of Tenochtitlan.
And don't go underestimating the Aztecs. Fighting in foggy jungles is a B itch and it is easy to get mobbed and surrounded by the vast Aztec stacks. I believe there are 6 aztec full stacks in Mexico to fight, there are only weak rebels in Brazil, the Carribean and North America.
Be sure to recruit merchants on Brazil; there is a hell of a lot of good wares to trade on there.

hey, I found it very easy to reach the new world as England. In fact, some of their troops can really butcher the natives such as retinue longbowmen and English Knights, both mounted and dismounted. You just have to get in fights where you aren't outnumbered 3 to 1 XD
I once started a spain campaign, just to conquer america. I conquered all of the iberian peninsula and then just upgraded my cities and waited for the 'the world is round' event. 4 Stacks of musketeers, sword and buckler and heavy cav + some cannons did the job.
Its not very clever to ship cannons though, you need ages with them on board....
