My first play

Hello as iam waiting for XGM to finish downloading i was wondering what faction I should play as.Right now iam split between Thrace Macedon and Greek states.What do u guys suggest

Macedon and Greece are great, just don't take byzantium until you want fight the selucids.

Definitely start with the Greek City States, they're the heart of the mod. IMO

well I just got wrecked by macdon when i was the greek states and when i played as macedon gaul had there way with me. ANy idea how i should fend them off.

Whenever I decide to try a new mod Macedon is my first choice

But in XGM, there is a little bit more challenge with macedon because of the Gallic horde waiting very close to your capital but dont worry you can handle it.

Easy, just take the mountain pass whatever troops you can and hit the turn they will surely atttack you. Then in the battle filed use territory and high grounds well. Gallic troops are no match for Macedons Phalanx

Have we already had this argument? Or was it someone else whom I argued about who challenged my mastery of the Romans? I cant remember, as for Romans begin fun! Of course we are fun! We love wine, and sex, and blood, and well thats about all we love but we love with our whole hearts!

That was me. I've actually never played the Romans in XGM (okay, once, but only got to the point where you conquer Sicily and stopped). The only time was very recently too... Besides, Iberia can take Rome any day. To think you could copy our ideas and then think yourselves superior!

If you like a little bit slower start, you could also try a Carthaginian or Ptolemaic campaign, because then you don´t have to deal with any immediate threats in the early game. But if you enjoy particularly tricky strategical situations, then the Seleucid Empire will keep you busy...just don´t trust your neighbours too much...

Of course, those dishonorable Romans would be the only people who would stoop to such levels just to defeat such a mighty people.

Corrcet me if am wrong but didnt carthage fall due to a lack of unity in there empier? Where is rome was unifiyed in there cause.
