In a Democratic Society, do you think felons ought to retain the right to vote?
Personally I think the should.

why should they?--- they can get exponged if they behave and get the rights back but conviction is a punishment.
Sounds like Guy De Lusignon needs to establish his views on this again.

Depends on what felonies they did, if it wasn't anyhow major...then sure. no problem.
Reap the promised end to the struggle. Reap every point on our linear path.
Reap the smiles in time we borrow, every harvest relies on the last.
Reap the promising song of the sparrow, that they learned from the birth of sea.
Silenced by the threnody of the crows. Reap the fallen fruit of the dogwood tree.
But I witnessed in all this silence one soul's definition of beauty. and a backlit smile so temporary.
A facade so rich with evil history. Cast in direct opposition set to overwhelm this moment to shine and sleep.
came out on top of what was borrowed, and found all that beauty to be still...
Generally no. They chose not to contribute or better their society so why should they have a say in how it is run?
So much for the belief that all men are created equal. Should unemployed people not be able to vote? They don't contribute economically.
Just because a person has committed a felony doesn't mean that they should be barred from democracy altogether. They are still citizens of their respective nations such that they are entitled a right to vote.
Doesn't mean they don't contribute to society. I don't think anyone mentioned economy, in any case.
Felons violate the law in serious manners; they have decided say "you" to society. Society should, likewise, say "
you" right back.
Again, at least until I become a convicted felon. At which point I would do a 180.

Yes. Because they have their citizenship, which gives them all the rights guaranteed by the consitution. I think it's a bit evil to say, "Oh, you're a felon, therefore you have no say in how we deal with you or how the country is run."
Oh, maybe while they're incarcerated in prison they might not. I could go either way on that case but in the above paragraph I thought it meant if you EVER were convicted for a felony.
Why shouldn't they? There isn't a candidate that stands for the legalisation of theft and murder.
Kentucky has a law that forbids convicted felons from voting.
I agree with this law until such time as I become a convicted felon.
Well it all compares on what they have done as to whether they should get the vote in my mind someone who speeds a lot still deserves a vote but on the other hand someone convicted of say treason should not get a vote.
