    Default Freak Victory

The Earl of Manchester is God.

Why, you say? He SINGLE-HANDEDLY destroyed the Royalists in my game.

First, the Battle of Bordock. On the bridge north of Oxford, his army horribly slaughtered King Charles I and his army. Later, his depleted army was attacked by an army led by King Something of the Rhine, and Prince Maurice of the Rhine, and horribly defeated. He ran away to Northampton, and fought them again there, and died, but not before killing both their King and their Prince.

    The enemy faction was destroyed.

Wow, that was slightly anti-climactic, and yet, at the same time, very satisfying, in that Manchester, my favourite general, became a Martyr, and a hero to all of England.

Says the man in the Vatican, It belongs to God. No! Says the Man in Moscow, It belongs to everyone. I rejected those answers, instead I choose something different... I chose the impossible... I choose.... Rapture. A city where the artist would not fear the censor, where the scientist would not be bound by petty moralities, where the great would not be constrained by the small. And with the sweat of your brow, Rapture can become your city as well..."

Essex is my hero, auto results for his battles always ended up as him winning, even when, at one time, him in a fort, on his own with just a saker and a musketeer unit he claimed a 'Clear Victory'... He got killed when I finally decided to command a battle with him as a CPU reinforcement, he charged straight into a spear formation, near an enemy tower wile muskets clapped at his unit from a wall. Well done him...

Essex sorta died semi-heroically in my game.

Sooo, Fairfax had taken York, without fighting Newcastle, who I have no bloody Idea where he is, whatshisface with the armoured cavalry had taken half of Sussex without fighting Marmaduke.
I have 3 armies advancing into Oxfordshire from the east, and one from the west. I think Brooke commanded the western army, while the east had 3 armies coming from the Northeast, East, and Southeast, being under Manchester, Essex, and whatsisname, Pippis or something, in the south. Essex is attacked by a large army, and both armies waste each other, with Essex's losing by such a small amount. Essex died, and his army retreats to London, where it spent the rest of the game retraining and dying of the plague. With the loss of Essex's army, I didn't have enough soldiers to attack Oxford, so Manchester goes to the bridge, where he will later fight the King, and Pippis goes south to relieve Sussex of the Marauding Marmaduke. Marmaduke was just heading to Portsmouth when I catch up with him and defeat him. He retreats to Portsmouth, which is now too strong to take. I travel to East Sussex, but when they send their army out of Portsmouth, without a general, I kill it, and then take Portsmouth, now severely weakened.

On the other hand, Ralph Hopton the Infantryman is slowly advancing up the Cornwall Peninsula, having already sent his crony to take Denver, and now about to take Taunton Castle...
    You know what happened next.

Essex also one me my game! He was ambushed at night (so my other reinforcements couln't join) from front and back by 2 full stacks. He fought heroically and with no place to escape killed the king and his prince before dying himself. Later the heir (now the king) would be killed and the Royalists defeated.
