I have a new computer and so I'm trying to install Rome on it but I get to the end of the installation and I get an error message saying there was a cyclic redundancy error. What is it and how do I get around it?

Here is Sega support's stock answer: http://help.sega.com/index.php?_m=kn...18&nav=0,43,39.
Is there another link? It says I'm not allowed to view the page![]()

Yes, that happens for me as well.
I'd suggest using the 'search facility' in this forum - look for posts with cyclic in them. It's at the top to the right of the line immediately above the 'announcements'.
This is not the first time someone has posted this problem. Using the search facility to find what other people have done may get you playing the game sooner.

I believe it's usually something to do with a dirty/scratched disk, which makes the installer try over and over again to install the same file, cos as it's scratched/dirty, it can't read it properly. If it's dirty, maybe you should clean it and try again. If that doesn't work, I'm afraid you'll have to go to the store and get a new one.

If the disc is just dirty you can buy a CD/DVD cleaner to clean up the surface. There are also repair kits out there that may work
The following is an example of a 'radial cleaner' - I use them on my DVD movies as sometimes they attract grease marks (yes I know eating and watching movies can be hazardous)......

This problem i remember occurs when part(s) of your file is missing and this happens when you download torrent and you need to recheck it in order to be sure you've downloaded the files 100%.
