CTD problem

Hi, i've have been waiting for this mod for quite some time now it is released adn i still haven't played it! due to not being able to start the game.

I have made a clean install of MTW2 and re-downloaded the mod (patched up to 1.15) to make sure, however i go into the directory and click on the shortcut it then starts up to the FKoC loading screen then crashes to desktop without an error just returns to the desktop like nothings happened lol and i really want to play this mod PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP!!!

P.S i have made my own thread rather than using the problems thread because no one took any notice. SORRY

whenever i go into battle, whever in campaign or custom battle i get a ctd and the message 'medieval total war 2 has encountered an unspecified error and needs to close'

i am using vista.

Did you follow the instructions carefully?
Someone else here must have it working on Vista...

I got this thing too. And yes, I have vista. Is there a fix for this somewhere or is it yet to be made?

have you installed the patches ?
have you unpacked the packs maybe ?

Yes, I've installed the patches according to the instructions in the threads. I think I'll play some more battles and see if the CTD is frequent. So far there has been only two CTD's but as I have vista, I'm afraid there is something awry.

open up for_king_or_country.cfg

Select all

Delete

Copy the follow code into that file and save it:

this happens as soon as the battle has finished loading

the ground is black, i hear the first 1 second of the drums,then it CTDS.

the mod seems to affect my vanilla game?

maybe i need to wipe the entire game entirely of my hard drive but i am having troubles?

Can you open Medieval II Total War\system.log.txt and paste the last 5 lines in this thread.

That's all normal. Have you tried the fix I posted above?

Add this to your .cfg

[log]
to = system.log.txt
level = * trace

[misc]
bug_report = true

Then check the system log again, paste the last few lines.

Then check reports folder and paste the contents of report-Administrator.txt in this thread.

I have a problem with battle-CTDs, too. Whenever I start a battle, the computers starts new after a few seconds. With other mods, I haven't this heavy problem. I don't use Vista (Visually Impressive Shame Technologically Appalling) and have installed both patches.
Would it help to copy your lines in my CFG-data?

i think it has sumthing to do with the artillery, it ctds whenever i load a battle with artillery

Argus, Hmm I really have no idea. What kind of graphics ard do you have?

Its not when it starts a campaign; that's the odd thing. The campaign is fine, but a few battles crash (I just had my first non-crashed campaign battle). And it is only when I hit start battle. Very odd.

Should I unpack all of my MT2 files? Would that help? I think I had a similar problem with an early version of the Sicilian Vespers.

Very impressive mod though Alpha. Hope you do something similar for Empire, which is supposed to have great mod tools (and hopefully better pikes and muskets).
