I wonder if helm's deep will survive an all-out of mordor...
Or better, a dual front with Isengard...
what'cha think?

Define "many". If the AI makes good use of siege towers and ladders, your walls will be crawling with uruks.
Actually it can be very sweet to butcher them from the walls...
Could be interesting if you have some dwarven units there.
Or better, troll-spam at your gates...
Anyone knows if there's those bloody "orc suiciders"? the ones with the mines?
You did? damn it. can I have minesweeper?
Sorry i'm no modelist. Could have helped with sound editing for a grand Kaboom...
Well the mine thing IS keeping me worried what's good for helm's deep may work for Minas tirith Aswell, and i'm more worried about the troll-infestation from that little breach.
Anyway, you are just raising my hopes and now i'm dead eager to lay my hands on that mod.
I hope one day they make "nowadays - total war". I wonder what wicked mods will you guys be modding for it.
I think any modest army should be able to hold Helm's Deep. It was held with only 300 average Men of Rohan, the Kings Guard, Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli. Fortifications are like that, they serve in place of a giant army because they are so tough and defenseable.
Aye,
But what will you do when Trolls are coming for you? yell them "you shall not pass"?
It's a game, nomatter how smart the AI is, it'll be based on calculations, not skill.
You'd need in TATW standards an army of about 600 to hold back 3000, more or less, and that's BEFORE the rohirrim coming in.
The first troll breaking and entering, i'm fleeing for the golden hall or the inner fort. You need only one good mine or a horde of uruks.
I agree with Shadow Bane. If you replace each hero with a unit, that would give you about 600 troops. 6 or 7 units (including a general) should be able to hold out.
Well, they DID slay some figures...
Don't know how the modders decided it to be, but i trust their decisions.
Either way, Helm's Deep WILL fall and not for the first time.
Pray the dwarves will not betray you (although that would be nice) and we may get out of it alive.
Something tells me that the phrase "hold till dawn" will get a new meaning...i'm seeing sleepless nights in the palantir
Gamling had about 1,000 average Men of Rohan and Eomer's eored and the King's Household added probably 1,000 or more men to the garrison of Helm's Deep. Gamling had a bit more than 300 to garrison Helm's Deep.
Would be nice if a good battle map maker made some Dwarven battle maps.
Sorry this post if a stray of topic,
but indeed it would be nice.
Mines of moria from above (with "sky" like a cave-roof) can really be quite a map, goblin infestation VS dwarves.
But with the same breath i know this mod will be a hit, so i guess a lot of good men around here will try to help out, after the mod is out. though something tells me TATW team made us some quite surprises.
Maps i'd like to fight in be the Amon sul, fanghorn, hobbiton (especially if units can attack buildings just to see hobitton burns) and sauron's fortress. Nomatter where, even "battle for middle earth" didn't had it. If men have forts, i guess sauron need one too (especially if we can't kill the sob).
What do you think guys? maybe i'm wrong...
I think the best way to incorporate those specific locations into the game would begin by creating them as custom scenarios first, and perhaps in the world map later.
awesome units the dragonslayers are very cool!
So, are the Dwarves going to get any charge ability? Or will they just trundle around like pikemen and be extremely charge resistant?
Every unit can charge, but i don't think that there is no special ability like that if you mean it.
Acorrding to D&D, perhaps. here i don't think it be equal.
I especially wait for the clash of elves VS goblins, like PTV. PARTS's signature
