Crusade Against London

Last night I called a Crusade against London, the Pope willingly agreed. I am playing as Norway and control Scotland, but the English are all over me like a rash! So, I thought a Crusade would be fun, my General from Inverness joined and I have been able to recruit some Armoured Sergeants and have enough space for the Crusaders and Longbowmen, when deeper in England. A second army will leave Bergen shortly and land in East Anglia. What would you do with London, once captured? The English will be miffed to say the least and leave my Northern cities alone, basically I really want York and Nottingham.
Interestlingly nobody else has joined yet, expect the Danish at anytime as they are my ally and at war with England

Delay the capture of London long enough to allow the crusade/build armies to take over the entire island. The free upkeep of those forces tend to be sweet.

Or you could try bargaining to give london back for a ceasefire with terms you wish?

You said the English were all over you? Well, now this crusade started against them, you will see them soon running back to London to defend it. When they are excommunicated and even a Crusade is called against them, they are really suffering a lot.

They got more worries now instead of attacking you.

I suggest:
Send that general to London and let him stay aside for awhile. Let other factions give a small try to capture London. The English will summon some armies to defend it with all they got. Let the other factions fight it out then. The Danes (ur allies ) in this case could act like some distraction while u attack the backbone of England

So attack the cities you want with other armies you have. Since England is excommunicated and they are under heavy crusade attack, you have full permission to raid their lands. So use this to your advantage.
Be quick in certain things, if the crusade is over and they are no longer excommunicated, you could get warnings from the Pope.

In short, if your focus lies on York and Nottingham, capture those! London aint important if its a better strategy to take York and NottingHam. Eventually, you will get London. Either its being in hands of another faction....or England itself.

just be sure to take it before it gets taken by a crusader army from another faction, unless the thing to start a new war is something you dont worry about

The Crusade was cancelled!

The Pope died, a new Pope which happened to be one of my Cardinals. He reconciled them, but hates them, so hence I have a very large expensive army. Neverless I chose to besiege London, appears to be the base of there economy producing 3500 florins per turn. Had to break siege as Sir Henry Trollope with a large army turned up, now I have tempted him to a battlefield of my choice, where I will destroy him.
The English still insist on attacking Aberdeen time after time and burning up there forces. Each time I win and next turn move in re-inforcements from Inverness, then they come again. So once Sir Henry is dispatched, London, Winchester and Exeter will be mine.

I've never really experienced London to be under any siege or stress in my games before.

Actually in Vanilla they can. I've made Rome rebel many times when it was the Pope's only settlement.

London fell this morning, The Norsemen went over the walls thru the gate and took them to pieces. I am going to keep this settlement, 3500 florins per turn, highly developed with Abbey and Siege Works. The English will throw all they have at getting it back and whilst they do that, my Northern army will take York, Nottingham and Caernarvon.
Here is the best one my Noble's Council gave me three units of Feudal Knight for blockading the port(London) for a turn. The ironic thing is half my army in London are Welshmen!

No way English will accept London to remain under Norsemen occupation just like that. Be ready for them coming at you.

They did and were repelled and after my Northern Army engaged them, where again they were defeated a charming Princess came and asked for a Ceasefire, which I accepted. My forces need retaining and re-inforcements and a ceasefire suits me, besides the Pope is getting a little minty!

Capitals actually can rebel, seen AI loose them to a rebelion quite some times.

I knew it, in my experience when a faction capitol has fallen and that particular faction still has substantial units available then they will come back and attack you over and over again in order to retake their capitol. Its just the way AI is programed to react.
Well, be ready when they come back and keep us posted.
Btw, how is the situation in other parts of your Empire??

You will be lucky to get to Aarhus, with half a Jihadi Army, by the time you have gone thru all those Catholic Factions. They will be waiting for you and if they don't kill you, your troops will desert. The Danes are very capable miltiarily too, let us know how you get on

i ll go home from work earler today i hope i have a chance to try it since right now i m jihading away against the templars. btw how many turns need to be between 2 crusades/jihads

i have corsica?sp the island close to milano - i ll start there. should only be 4 or 5 turns up to aarhus and germany is not in war with me yet. well i ll give it a shot and let you know if i made it to their walls.
