Does anyone know how to find out if traits are causing crashes at the end of battles? And which ones might be to blame?

It is possible to figure out whether traits are causing a problem. Simply change the 'level = * error' in the .cfg file to 'level = * trace'. This will list all the traits and ancillaries that have been activated while playing M2TW (the one that occurs before the crash most likely caused it).
Alternatively you can delete all triggers in the ancillary/traits file and see if you still get this crash, since without triggers you can't get any ancillaries/traits (back up these files before deleting their triggers).

Thanks for the suggestion..
I tried it and these are the last few lines.:

:S
In RTW triggers with NumEnemiesInBattle would often cause a CTD on battles with reinforcement armies. Could be the same in M2TW, I have yet to test it.
I haven't really written any triggers so I'm a bit confused.
After a successful siege I noticed it does this in the log:
22:01:13.187 [system.io] [trace] pack data(),,data/banners/symbols8.tga.dds,,,16512
22:01:13.187 [system.io] [trace] pack close,,data/banners/symbols8.tga.dds,,,-16512
22:01:15.343 [game.script.trigger] [trace] Trigger <0588_Unexplored_Advisor_Request_Help_Trigger> fired
22:01:15.343 [game.script.trigger] [trace] Trigger <0087_UI_Scroll_Prisoners_Trigger> fired
22:01:15.343 [game.script.trigger] [trace] Trigger <0588_Unexplored_Advisor_Request_Help_Trigger> fired
22:08:01.875 [game.script.trigger] [trace] Trigger <factionleader> fired
22:08:01.875 [game.script.trigger] [trace] Trigger <inherited> fired
22:08:01.875 [game.script.trigger] [trace] Trigger <becomesheir> fired
From looking at what it does at the end of a successful battle (No CTD) I presume that, once it loads those strat map banners, it tries to fire triggers/traits for the outcome of the battle. In the example above it's obviously trigger things to do with the fact the faction leader died, but what is the unexplorted advisor thing?
Cheers
This is a trigger from export_descr_advice, not EDCT. It fires the Unexplored_Advisor_Request_Help_Advice_Thread AdviceThread.
What he said. The second one is just the script which checks if you have captured any prisoners to ransom, pretty sure that is in the hard code. But the Advisor ones are from export_descr_advice.txt . You should probably just completely blank that file since most of it won't be applicable and the computer never really provides helpful building advice even if it is not specifically catered.

Is it something that could be crashing the game? This is a reproducable crash straight after a bridge battle ends. It seems to be a certain bridge.
Cheers
I'm not sure why it would be crashing the game, no, it doesn't seem likely it's the cause, just coincidence. This is the text:
Which queries this entry:Code:Trigger 0588_Unexplored_Advisor_Request_Help_Trigger WhenToTest ScrollOpened Condition I_TurnNumber > 2 and not I_MapName data/world/maps/campaign/norman_prologue/descr_strat.txt AdviceThread Unexplored_Advisor_Request_Help_Advice_Thread 1
And this is the line it links to in the EDAT:Code:AdviceThread Unexplored_Advisor_Request_Help_Advice_Thread GameArea Campaign Item Unexplored_Advisor_Request_Help_Advice_Text_01 Uninhibitable Verbosity 2 Priority 1 Threshold 1 MaxRepeats 1 Attitude Normal Presentation Default Title Unexplored_Advisor_Request_Help_Advice_Text_01_Title Text Unexplored_Advisor_Request_Help_Advice_Text_01_Text1
None of those seem at all suspect or like they'd be relevant to a bridge battle. I've never touched the advisor though and if that last code box is any indication of touching the advisor, the battlemodels.modelsdb is plenty worthless numbers for me thanks.Code:Unexplored_Advisor_Request_Help_Advice_Text_01_Text1 624.009070294785
My guess is it is some form of map error. It seems there's 2 seconds between the last banner check and the trigger firing, which implies the triggers are looking at whatever the first event once you hit campaign map is(Post Battle?), and the in between is probably the actual loading of the characters on the map, which with all map stuff, doesn't ever log. I'd check the map near that bridge for a losing character maybe backing up onto an invalid tile?

Not sure if this is related but could there be a problem with both a faction leader and faction heir dying in the same battle?
Does the game engine assign new faction leader and faction heir during the battle or after it has completed? Possible that some traits can't fire due to both dying at the same time?
No way to test this, assigning the heir/leader is somewhere in the hardcode, the traits that work off things like "IsFactionLeader" are only triggered after the hard coded assignment of the title is given. Same for changing model which is just done through the "Level" parameter and with extra lines in the models_strat.
