What is a “Rally Point”...?

Hi I'm new to M2TW and although I've read the instructions I may have missed an item; perhaps someone will help me.

What is a “Rally Point”; how and why is it used?

Incidentally, my boyfriend and I have been playing Civilization for several years, but its nothing compared to M2TW, We can’t wait to get a copy of Empire, when it comes out in 2009. We are both already addicted to this game after only a week since we bought it.

It's where your army will automatically go when you train them in a particular city. Saves you from having to move each individual unit outside of a town to board a ship or something.

I believe you highlight the city, or port (it works for ships too) and you either hold down shift or control, left click the city and drag what will look like a squiggly yellow line that is now your cursor to the place you want to rally the troops. They get created, and automatically march there to await your further command.

I can't remember exactly how it's done, I hope someone will post after me with exact directions, but at least you get the picture.

Alt+Right/left click (don't remember ) on the spot you want as rally point.

Also, to delete a rally, point, use Alt+Right Click to select the city as the rally point.
