can't get gold status on blacksmith

So i have all the city upgraded to the maxium, how come when i train troop there they only show up with silver and gold shield upgrade?

Sometimes they also require the building of a particular temple to give them the highest weapon and defence upgrades

Well i have all the building built that can be possibly built. so they still wont appear lol

Not all factions can get the temple type neccessary.

Only the "Military" Temples can give the weapon and defence upgrades I think, Military temples being those dedicated to gods of war or gods of smithing.

Yeah, and only a few of those gives armour upgrades. Most of them only boosts light weapons, morale or experience. I know Egypt can get gold armour and I think Scipii can too.

The Gauls, I believe, can get gold Ranged weapons, as well as the ... Greeks? Artemis and Abnoba, if I recall correctly.

The way I obtained gold upgrades for my units was having the highest blacksmith in a province with an Iron mine. Without the mine I believe it is impossible to get the highest the gold tier. One such province is the island of Crete.

Abonoba gives gold swords to ranged units (archers, mounted archers and artillery)

I did not know about mine criteria(it would be listed as 'hidden resource'),all I see is you add Blacksmith Bonus to Temple Bonus to give your upgrades(non cumulative-highest for each added).

It gives +3,Bronze/Silver/Gold upgrades. You get missile(+3) from other temples for Gold Status,ie Artemis. Romans can not get that for example,you have to capture a Greek,Spain or Gaul temple,lol.

What faction you playing?

As has been said, not all factions can upgrade to gold in anything. And there are no factions which can upgrade to gold in everything (without capturing facilities from other factions which allow it).

I remember upgrading most everything as Scipii, using blacksmith line and temple of Vulcan (IIRC). Scipii get much better upgrades than other Roman factions. But I could not upgrade archers to gold sword without capturing a the proper Gaul or Greek facilities.

Yer screwed... as far as getting gold sword upgrades.

When you play as Scipii, build Vulcan temples in your military production cities. (Don't go overboard and build them everywhere.) Even then, to get gold sword for your archers you will need to capture the correct temple from the Gauls or Greeks.

BTW --> Scipii also get to build an excellent dreadnought warship that is better than any other faction gets to build.

The highest level blacksmith only gives silver upgrades, you need the required temple type to get gold/gold upgrades... The Brutii have it, I think, and Gaul (Teutais). I can't remember the rest.
