    Default Are there supposed to be so many pirates?

    It is impossible to keep a navy in this game! The pirates become so numerous that they always obliterate my small fleets before I can build up enough numbers to combat them! I've lost many good generals and priests due to this. Is there a way to tone down the spawn rate of pirates?

    what i do is build fleets of a least 5 cogs/holks, it takes awhile but its the only thing you can do

    What I've noticed is that if you have no boats in the water, nor any sea trade, you don't get pirates.

    So, what I do is to hold off on sea build until I can afford to support a fleet of seven holks.
    After I've gotten the near rebel settlements under control, and gotten my primary civilian settlement large enough to open up trade rights, I start building my fleet from at least three ports that are in range of each other for a one turn trip to combine into single fleet.

    I tend to try to have my sea trade warf finish building at the same time my fifth boat is finishing.

    After 10 turns or so, the pirate spawn will slow down and the fleet can be cut back to 5 for port defense.

    If I need to ship units across water I'll start a single boat build for the purpose and have my units needing transport sitting on the port the turn before the build finishes. Then, once the boat pops, I load up and scoot. Speed of movement helps muchly to catch rats unprepared.

    checking the campais strat file it says :
    brigand_spawn_value 40
    i think the 40 is qiuet big

    This was an oversight, it iwll be corrected in the patch.

    This is correct. If you want to change it manually,I have changed the pirate spawn rate to 80 for the next release.

    If some of you can test this, it would be very helpful. In the campaign I have been testing it seems too low now.

    If some of you can try 70, 75, and 80... it would be a great help.

    Did it, and as allways ,did it big.

    Playing a modded version with big units and a lot of starting money
    Put 90 as value
    After turn 4 there was for my onpinion a good spawn of pirate ships.(you see the difference between 65 and 90.
    Now i have to put some mone in a "full time" fleet to hunt those pirate.
    After turn 10 there was almost every turn a batlle with my ships and pirates.
    So as you sayed 80 would be good.
    Will check this in the WE.
    Were are all the others.

    Thanks for the help, time has been very scarce the latley I will leave it at 80 for now, and we will see how that works out.
