Default Forum structure - suggestions, complaints

Welcome to the United AAR Forum!

    How was this forum established?
Link to the original Q&S proposal
    [Decision]United AAR Forum
[Decision] [PASSED 29:5:4 26/09/08] United AAR Forum!

Thanks for the support and contribution of everyone.

As you can see there are a lot of subfora here, but the forum is still under construction.

If you have any suggestions or complaints about the current structure, post it here.

Or you can PM me ([user]PowerWizard][/user]) or [user]Trajan[/user], but using this thread is much more easier for all of us.

I'd like to know what do the community game leaders think about Winter's idea, that we'd need one big subforum called "Community Games", that would include all the community RPG subfora.

I figure we should have one subforum for all the group AAR's instead of putting them in their separate games' AAR forums or putting them on the main page.

The reason is putting them together will give them a common ground to grow a new community of group aarists. It also gives room to add new games, whereas putting them on the main page or even in the aar forums would add unneeded clutter.
edit: the current stucture were approved by CG leaders

Emptied the AAR subfora within the AAR Competitions forum

Rome: Total War After Action Reports
Medieval II: Total War After Action Reports

moved threads (except for the competition-related ones) to the main AAR subfora, with a 3 day expiring redirect. After 3 days these subfora (within the AAR competitions), could be deleted (but leave the Archive).

Emptied the the Kingdoms After Action Reports too, moved threads to the main M2TW AAR forum with a 3-day expiring redirect. After this, the Kingdoms AAR forum can be deleted. We can distinguish the Kingdoms AARs by putting [Americas AAR], [Crusades AAR] etc. in the title. Already started this work, and I will keep an eye on all AARs to "tag" the titles in a similar fashion.

    Non-Total War AARs subforum
The discussion about the future place of non-TW AARs is located here. The fuzz has made a good point in the debate, please read it before voting.

PM-ing mod leaders about the mod-based subfora.

AAR subfora and AAR threads to be moved / permanently redirected to the main forum - authorised by mod leaders / mod community:
    Stainless Steel
    Roma Surrectum
    Invasio Barbarorum
    Rome: Total Realism (in progress)
    Fourth Age: Total War
    Chivalry: Total War
    Europa Barbarorum
Some of the SPQR and Rise of Persia AARs are moved here with the permission of the authors.
Rome: Total Realism AAR subforum movement is debated here

First of all, the mod leaders should be contacted. They could choose from three options:
    • "Opt-out": leave their AAR subforum in its original place (but with a stickied thread pointing to the main AAR forum) OR
    • Move the subforum to the united AAR board (with a permanent forum redirect in the former place). In this case the structure would look like this: AAR Board / Medieval II: Total War After Action Reports / Stainless Steel AARs (for example) OR
    • move all AARs into the respective subforum of the united board (eventually change the title of the AARs, for example put this: "[IBFD AAR]" in the front) - SUGGESTED OPTION
Advantages: bigger publicity for the mod, more and more people will like to know and try the mods; a good showcase for the mods etc.

The forum became so popular that Imperium Latinorum has decided to move here.

    Community Games Suggestions thread created.

Firstly, congratulations on getting this up and running.

About Winter's idea, I think we should leave it as it is, cos if we put it in a subforum, the players of the RPG's would have harder accessibility by a few clicks Though I suppose it might make the main forum look less cluttered...

Prehapes we should move the general AAR section from the circus maximus to here since we might as well go the whole kit and caboodle and move all AARs to here.

Good idea, I have thought about this option too, but didn't include in the proposal, as it might have looked overzealous. After rethinking it, I guess the non-TW AARs should be here as well. I am PM-ing the authors to get their permission ASAP. This is the forum we're talking about:

AARs - Post here your AARs for any non-Total War Games

Sorry, but I fail to understand why hasn't anybody informed my about the transformation of the M2TW RPG "Imperium Latinorum", and I was searching the site for half an hour before I find it here. I think someone should have told me.

I have already asked Trajan to leave a permanent redirect (it was in the original proposal), it was not my fault, but I apologize.

Okay, but I don't agree with the decision to put RPG games here. After Action Reports are completely different from Role Playing Games.

Imperium Latinorum was not part of the proposal, I agree, so PM Trajan to put you back, np.
The rest of the RPGs will stay however, as they all gave their consent and support to moving here.

Don't get all worked up for nothing Romanos. It was a simple miscommunication problem. You don't want your sub-forum here, fine, back it goes. And RPG's are under the TW Community Games category which this forum was made to also house besides AAR's.

As was the rest of us...I did quite wonder where the AAR's had gone, as there was no announcement of any sort....you could have made an announcement for that, couldn't you?

I don't have time to do everything in one day and I'm getting no help setting all this up so have some patience.

Now there are permanent redirects everywhere, so everyone will find the new place.
I hurried Trajan, so my apologies, guys.

    Congratulations on organizing this Powerwizard!

As for the community rpg subforum, I say we leave things as they are now and if we feel we need one later on we can go ahead and institute it then.
