"I am Andrew Ryan, and I'm here to ask you a question; Is a man not entitled to the sweat of his brow? No! Says the man in Washington, it belongs to the poor. No! Says the man in the Vatican, It belongs to God. No! Says the Man in Moscow, It belongs to everyone. I rejected those answers, instead I choose something different... I chose the impossible... I choose.... Rapture. A city where the artist would not fear the censor, where the scientist would not be bound by petty moralities, where the great would not be constrained by the small. And with the sweat of your brow, Rapture can become your city as well..."

Im an atheist and British, (not European!), and I 've no problem with Christians practicing their religion. I was raised in a predominantly christian country, it's a part of my society, culture and tradition. I still attend church, both Protestant and Catholic, for weddings, funerals, christenings, communions etc and bow my head and follow most of the customs where required.
The only time I take issue with religion is if it trys to enforce it's doctrine or influence the law of the land/education/politics etc where it is'nt relevant. But that goes for any religion.

Hmm...Okay but why does that bother you ..your not going to hell because there is no after life or god right. So my friend just ignore it,dont let it bother you.You can try to disprove god really exists ,but in the end the faithful will not listen its their backround, thier history its their faith.Honestly I am getting annoyed with all these Why does Christianity Exist?or Is there a God? threads.
As for the other guy talking about enforcing about your religion on others, its going to happen.I mean If theres a kid whos being raised Catholic hes going to have a pretty big catholic enfluence in his life. But as for state sponsered religion ,that really doesnt happen anymore.I mean you live in the UK right?Just thank god you live in Western Europe or in Canada or The USA.As the youth in those areas are incresingly inclined to hate religion,Christianity Especicaly.Jk about thank GOd part![]()

It bothers me that people are still dumb enough to believe in God despite all the scientific advances of the last two centuries.
These people get to vote. Their absurd superstitions are spouted in the mainstream media. Radio 4 is just about to run 'thought for the day' by some sanctimonious old crackpot who has enough of a right to pontificate about generalities he doesn't understand as a roadsweeper but is given a national public platform because he adheres to the same belief system as a 1st century shepherd. It is bad and wrong.
Like it or not, it does impact on my life. These absurd people believe they are 'saved' and that I am a heathen 'unbeliever'. They really think they are going to enjoy an afterlife and that I will go to hell. That is offensive nonsense. These people could turn out to be my bank manager or my boss.
I have a right to try to disabuse these fools of their wrong-headed world view.
The last of the famous international playboys.
The point of this subforum is to discuss, among other things, and the subject of most debate on the matter will be the base of the matter itself, namely god. In everyday life, these things wouldn't bother me, but, if I want to debate, I'll come here as I find debating enjoyable.
If someone doesn't like something that is constantly forced on them, they'll grow to hate it, just like I would grow to hate brocolli, which I already dislike, if I was forced to eat it every day.As for the other guy talking about enforcing about your religion on others, its going to happen.I mean If theres a kid whos being raised Catholic hes going to have a pretty big catholic enfluence in his life. But as for state sponsered religion ,that really doesnt happen anymore.I mean you live in the UK right?Just thank god you live in Western Europe or in Canada or The USA.As the youth in those areas are incresingly inclined to hate religion,Christianity Especicaly.Jk about thank GOd part![]()
any one who goes to church to me is religious im not religious and none of my family friends or familly are.
Sometimes you have to go to church even if your not religious. If you've got mates and family, eventually they'll get married etc and you have to go do your duty. My brother had his child christened simply so she could attend the local C/E primary school, as it's a good school.
You spend your hour on a pew looking forwards to the piss up afterwards.
I dont like atheists, they are so disrespectful and insulting.
A new mobile phone tower went up in a town in the USA, and the local newspaper asked a number of people what they thought of it. Some said they noticed their cellphone reception was better. Some said they noticed the tower was affecting their health.
A local administrator was asked to comment. He nodded sagely, and said simply: "Wow. And think about how much more pronounced these effects will be once the tower is actually operational."
To your faith.
You find it insulting when we discredit your bronze age myths, or revalue them as what they are, myths.
In fact most atheists are quite knowable of other religions, at least to a degree that they see the error within them.
I think you'll find it is generally religious people who are the most ignorant and bigoted.
That doesn't go for all of us.
I have Christian friends. They're all nice. In fact, every Christian I know is a nice fella, I just don't like the more extreme sort. Like Witnesses of Jehova. I don't want them in my home, still, they'll be damned if they don't get in. Or so they think.![]()
