How do you fix Medieval on Vista?

I have Medieval II on my computer. But I can't play any custom battles on the Crusades, Teutonic, or original game. This started after I tried to unpack Medieval II to mod it on VISTA. I've already tried uninstalling it about 4 times, and still nothing happens. Does anyone know how to fix it?

Did you delete the descr_geography files?

you gotta unpack the game and the campaigns with the unpacker included, this makes the files viewable, including desc geo

Yeah that's the problem I can't unpack it. Vista won't let it work for some reason, and that is what screwed the game up in the first place.

My friend has a Vista and his computer runs like crap on medieval,plus he has a newer version of visa.

I don't know the reason for your unpacker to be messed by Vista. I have Vista and I have been playing M2TW for months with no problems. Anyway, it runs better on XP and I installed it on my XP partition. Some games runs better on XP, expecially games released before Vista.
Have you already tried a complete uninstallation of M2TW? I would also try a manual uninstallation.

just a hunch, but you might want to try unchecking the read-only box
in case you don't know how, right click -> properties -> uncheck read-only

I had the same problem, and I'm fairly sure that Vista hides them somewhere and you have to delete the geography files, only, I couldn't find them. In the end I reinstalled vista.

I finally found a way to fix it. All you do is uninstall it. Then reinstall it to C:\Program Files instead of C:\Program Files (x86). It should work since it did for me.

Finally I can play the Teutonic campaign again.
