    Icon6 Questions from a Noob

Hey guys, I'm new to this mod, and this is my first time posting.

I've been playing this mod on easy/easy, is was just my first run through to see how it is. The result is im hooked, SPQR is an awesome mod.

So now I'm about to start the campaign over with house rules, on medium/medium and see how it was meant to be played.

Just one question, how does the Marius reforms work?

I've read that you have to do certain things for the reforms to happen. When I was playing on easy, the forms never came, and I'm in like 300 AD.

Any advice or suggestions is much appreciated.

you need to reach a population level of 24000 in one of your city's in italie (this includes sicily and sardinie) if you reach this level you can build an imperial palace. it will take 30 turns to build this building and when it finaly finishes the marius reforms will happen.

Glad to see your enjoying the mod. If you have any other questions don't hesitate to ask because everyone here is very friendly. Oh, and check Hesus's sig for common things otherwise he gets irked

ok guys just for an update. I played last nite on my new Roman campaign on medium/medium. Ok so i got my butt kicked. Easy/easy is like way to easy, but i dont think i can win right now. I'm going to try Hesus guide that he has in his link on how on God's green earth to beat Hannibal. I'm not giving up but i may have to start over. I guess i'm not as good at battles as i thought i was.

ha don' t worry we all had to start over a few times hannibal and the other mercenary army are hard to defeat the first couple of times. but it is possible to defeat him whit only one legion. don' t forget to put off fire at will and skirmish mode ore your velites will trow there javalin to infanterie and thy are the once that KILL ELEPHANTS. good luck with your game.

Lol, Echo, I did absolutely the same...In my case, it was mainly the previous experience from other mods...For example, in other mods velites arent usually so strong and effective, so I tended to underestimate them. In SPQR, they are the absolute must-have when facing ellies...

let the velites only throw on the ele's, that helps a lot

well, you just have to get used to it after a while, you'll be defeating both Hannibal and Theophanes with one legion

and remember that, yeah, pretty far every battle in SPQR TW is like this (or harder)

    so be prepared
