Strategy when in a siege
Hello,
I'm new, and I don't know of there was already someone who posted this tactic but it goes like this:
When you're protecting a city that's being sieged: (different wall types)
WOODEN GATES:
You need cavalry, about 100-400 (depending on the size of a enemy's army, later in the game you'll need much more!)
Okay. When you deploy units, deploy all soldiers EXCEPT the cavalry near the gate nearest to the enemy. You deploy the horses at a gate Left or right of it. When their siege rams are comin' and they are battering the gates, you let your horses out of the gates (at the left or right gate). Let the horses march slowly around the corner. When the rams have battered the gate, you attack as usual with infantry. While fighting, you let your horses run at the left of right side of the enemy. They will be realy suprised an will be killed quickly!
WATCH OUT: If there are spearman in front, than try to avoid them with the calvary!
Stone or epic gates: Same story, but put archers on the walls. You could put some Urban soldiers in the special ability mode so they're a turtle.
Hope it helps someone.
Greetz,
Edi

Re: Strategy when in a siege
iWelcome to the forums eddi,
ts an ok strategy but if utake too much cav and leave too little infantry ure infantry will get destroyed and then your cav will be too late and probally get killed. So take a lot of infantry and a little bit of cav and do the same thing.

Try using the V formation:- 2 spear units near the gate almost facing each other, but touching at the furthest point from the gate. It mashes everything!

you need to put melee units on the walls because theyll get seige towers and kill your archers.
