    Default United States Presidential Debate

So, what are your thoughts regarding the debate between Obama and McCain? What do you think about the things said? Who won in your opinion?

As usual I'll keep my opinions for myself and will only reveal them later on as the discussion gets more advanced and complex...

I was going to do a thread like this but i figured it would flounder cause i don't think anyone cares

but anywho yeah i want to say Obama won but i can't they both have many time were they threw what could have been successfully punch but they both manage to parry the blows but either way Obama show he was ready to be pres and McCain didn't torpedo his campaign so overall a good night for both

but you should check out this site

McCain got royally owned, I mean what the hell is talking about here...
McCain: Now, the new president of Pakistan, Qadari [sic], has got his hands full... And the Pakistanis are going to have to understand that that bombing in the Marriott Hotel in Islamabad was a signal from the terrorists that they don't want that government to co-operate with us in combating the Taleban and jihadist elements.

He seriously doesn't know who the President of Pakistan is?

Are you sure that is not just a problem with the transcript?

Nope, but I'm just saying the name is close enough that it could simply be the fact the person writing the transcript may have hit q instead of z thus it may not be wise to jump to conclusion.

I watched the entire debate and you will see that McCain preformed little bit better. But, vice-presidential debate in two days will definitely be victory for Joe Biden. Palin is just too artificial to be a good candidate, Biden is more natural politician.

I know the number of times I've accidental said Grown, Mlair, and Rush. Not at all comparable to the number of times I've mistakenly said Barkozy, Tu Fintau and Jerkel.

The fact remains, McCain and his supporters, have consistently attacked Obama's foreign policy credentials, and his knowledge and experience, but its clear McCain's knowledge of anything no American is fairly poor. That much is obvious, but consistently denied. McCain also thought Iran was training Al Qaeda, embarrasses himself on a visits to Israel...

That's just his little mistakes and gaffs...as he doesn't actually know these things but gets it briefed to him before he goes on.

But have you seen the rest of the Debate, everythign McCain came out with was what people on these forums keep banging on about, Obama constantly schooled him in his replies.

I have to say Obama surprised both me and everyone else, I saw him as weak, and light weight, andhe still is, but McCain is weaker.

If Obama could even match McCain in a Debate it was a win for Obama because McCain was supposedly supposed to be a good debater and Obama a stuttering fool. Not only did Obama match McCain, he clearly won as he was obviosly well prepared and informed as a President should be.

P.S. How many posts do I need to participate in a poll?

Wasn't this debate supposed to be on McCain's strong ground - foreign policy? If Obama can basically hold his own here, it doesn't bode too well for McCain for the other debates.

They both made mistakes, but in general you can understand their positions on foreign policy. I think it is a bit disturbing that Sen. Obama can never admit to a mistake of any size though. It is not as bad as Kerry's "I voted for the war before I voted against it" or whatever muckup he said. Examples:

    1) Meet _______ without preconditions in the first year in office.

    2) Not admitting that the surge is working or that Pres. Bush came around to Sen. McCain's thinking on this.

    3) Not willing to admit that earmarks are part of the spending problem. Yes, they are a small part, but fixing even a small part is better than doing squat. You cannot fix what you will not acknowledge.

So you are also in favor of giving control of the US House and US Senate to the Republicans using the same logic?

I was appalled at Obama's stuttering, but I will still vote for him for the good of America.
