Events

Just started playing SS and I must say it's cool, the many events are also cool but I think that they should do more things, not just showing up.

For example, I'm playing the Knights Templars and then some event about people joining the templars and I thought, cool now I may get some units but noo, nothing. More people = more knights to fight for the holy land?

Also what do the priest meeting thing do? got it 2 times now but havent seen any changes on my priests.

I have never noticed anything with the priest events myself, but it is supposed to increase traits and ancillaries of traits as well as family members near your capital. Turning the meeting down with result in negative traits. From what I have noticed:

The priest event (conference), if you finance their attendance, makes the priests you currently have receive the orthodox trait. This helps to protect them from going heretical, especially when converting populace in foreign lands, denouncing heretics, etc..
