Default Something I'm looking at for XGM6

XGM6 features will revolve mainly around provincial campaigns.
Faction swaps will allow many interesting things to be done.

    Examples:

    - Senate campaigns for certain factions: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=184343

-A "rise and fall of the seleucids" campaign featuring heavily emerging factions: http://www.twcenter.net/wiki/Hording...d_Emergence.29

It will require massive internal renaming but will give XGM a scope that no other mod ever had...

This is very exciting news indeed, Zarax. I am very curious to know more about this "rise and fall of seleucids" project.

The Seleucid campaign with emerging factions is an interesting idea. TSE is an interesting faction to play and this has the potential to maintain the challenge of the campaign by introducing a succession of new opponents.

I foresee some technical difficulties though. Obviously this is only going to work with the BI exe. Also emergent factions are unplayable, and the switches that make them emergent lie outside the campaign folder, so this could not be set up as just a provincial campaign.

In my opinion this has a lot of potential to be a fun campaign to play, but it's probably best to do it as a stand alone version of XGM. That would give us much more freedom to rename and redesign factions to suit the campaign.

As a stalwart TSEer I really like the sound of this, notwithstanding the provincial campaign difficulties DBH pointed out.

It would definitely add a new dimension to the gameplay.

Seleucids would be renamed internally as "western roman empire" to enable a few extras.

Instead of the normal set-up you would have:
    - Baktria emerging like the romano-british in BI (basically, loose baktra and they will come and take it).
    - Parthia emerging as horde near the map borders
    - Armenia might also be emergent but need to plan this properly and see if it's feasible
    - Ptolemies might become the eastern roman empire internally (although this is very, very low priority as it might not be worth the effort)
    - The eastern kingdoms may also be renamed to spring a few extra surprises.
    That sounds very interesting Zarax.

Isnt it possible to make it an install option, or will it be to hard to maintain?

It would be possible, but very complicated.

As I said, it's all pretty much on testing phase, actual implementation may differ wildly.
That said, I'm pretty sure that at least some of these things can be implemented, after all before I tried even the senate in BI was deemed impossible...

I'm pretty sure we can get the emergent factions to work, though changing the internal names of factions can be a real pain.

Aha, these would be some of those BI only features, right?

Yes, my aim is to have total BI support.
I honestly think we squeezed all the RTW exe potential with XGM 5.8 and this is the only way to push some real innovations in the mod along with the post marian project.

Of course all this is still in the planning phase and if the community won't be interested it might just end-up as a personal project, not unlike XGMD for Redfox although I would hate that and probably end my RTW days for good...

I'm aware of the pain but imho it's worth it.

This sounds like a great idea, will the selucid campaign have a different map and a player loaded script?

You could see the Goth Mod for BI and see how they made the slavs playable.

I will start this as SVN based on 5.8, will share the access with DBH and the main modders here.
Hopefully Dime will jump in and this will eventually become official 6.0, revolutionized by the provincial campaign approach and the effects of direct collaboration on the codebase.

Whew, this sounds amazing! I've never played TSE much, but this got me interested in practicing for when this comes out.
