but i hope you can ... i did have Rome: Total War installed a while ago but on the main screen the cursor left ghosts in fact everything did... click single player imperial campaign.... click the faction button.... click senate.... it goes to a black screen and goes back to the desktop .... screen shot of the main screen... then it gets so far into the game and something happens like a revolt or something.... it does the same CTD... so i uninstalled it.... updated my graphics card yesterday after months of not being able to play RTW and it STILL does the same thing what's up???

First of all welcome to the forum.

You need to make sure that all your drivers are up-to-date. Run Windows Update as well.

Also post your PC specs and details of the graphics settings you are using.

The other thing you may want to try (as a last resort) is the complete removal of the game (and game folders) from your PC and then reinstall. Uninstall using the game options (or add/remove programs in Windows). You will also need to remove all traces of your game from the Windows Registry - the following post should help with this (I've personally never had to use it).
