Default Unit modding, I know I'm doing something daft

    Hi,

I've been trawling this place for ages looking for a clear and easy to follow tutorial and judging by the number of other posts I'm not alone!

If there is anyone out there who can give me a step by step guide to adding one factions unit(s) to another faction I would be HUGELY grateful.

I've unpacked the files and am able to change EDU and have those changes appear ingame. I've edited EDB to allow for recruitment of these 'new' units but there my expertise (ahem) fails me. I'm guessing it has something to do with the battle_models.modeldb file???

I am literally just trying to give Scotland Calivermen and that's it.

If anyone can help I would gladly donate a few quid to your fav charity. I know this kind of thing is asked all the time but frankly some of the tutorials are hard to follow and vary between version and person.

Anyway, thanks for looking and if you can point out my dumba** mistake I'd virtually shake your hand for it.

    Cheers!
..okay, apart from aqueducts, the schools and paving the roads what have the bloody Romans ever done for us?

If you wish to add units then you must get to know the model file.
I am a little rusty since I last released Kingdom crusade faction mod v1.1
but my mod did add units to other factions, but I learned through other threads in this workshop...also I had to make the model file more accessible which I do believe that program exist somewhere in the downloads section.

Im sorry for my lack of knowledge on where to find these tools. Just look around in this workshop and im sure you can find what you are looking for.

BTW: you can just download my file and look at the edited model file and just see what it looks like in the edited form, if that would help, once again im still rusty so someone else can probably help you more than me.

Hiya, Thanks for the reply. I think you're right. The problems I'm having are the same old ones from ye olde times gone by! The peasant in the coal sack unit card etc!

The model file is pretty confusing though isn't it?

The thread you need is here. I can help you myself though if you have trouble, I've been wanting to add Calivermen to Scotland in my personal retrofit. PM me if you want.

    ED: Done.

The model file made by CA is very bastard this time. RTW one was easier to master.
However to add units correctly would be better to have those modeldb files formatted by some expert modder of the community. (Patched to the latest versions of course)
