SO what is he just John Sidney now? Anyways Obama said he isn't postponing his campaign, McCain really mixes it up! The debate is still supposed to be on.
"July 14, 2008: I think this is a case where Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae are fundamentally sound. They're not in danger of going under. They're not the best investment these days from a long term standpoint going back. I think they are in good shape going forward. They're in the housing market. I do think their prospects going forward are very solid."

McCain Suspends his McCain
opps I think people know what i meant -- can someone fix the title?
pretty stupid....I mean what solution he can come up with...?
1. he admits he doesn't knowabout economics.
2. how many of his advisers are experts on this anyways? any Nobel prize winner on that team?
3. how he gonna come up with a solution in just a few days and weeks? this is like a gigantic problem with a lot of different answers for different questions.
i see this just as a campaign showboating, achieving nothing except some publicity.

According to CNN Obama called McCain this morning to suggest they do this, and McCain jumped on TV to make it look like his idea (LOL what a balla).

You have it backwards. McCain called Obama and informed him of what he planned to announce. Gives the loyal opposition time to react responsibly.
This can be simply the way Sen. McCain views how government should be run. Similar to his suspending the convention for one day since the politicians needed to perform elected duties prior to the Ike hitting the gulf coast.
We tend to look too much through a political lens. Perhaps we can simply give Sen. McCain credit for doing the responsible actions that he has been elected to perform as a US Senator.
I also sense a moderator looming over this to merge into the presidential thread.
Well I think part of it is that it is necessary as if republicans stop this bailout he's done and they might stand in the way. Also he's taking the initiative and besides he couldn't be doing this purely for political reasons he can destroy Obama on foreign policy.

Obama suggested they make a joint press release...

"A McCain senior adviser said that Obama called McCain early Wednesday morning to asking a joint statement of "shared principles and conditions" for the bailout proposal.
An Obama campaign source confirmed the call and said that McCain returned his call six hours later, and accepted the concept and suggested the two of them return to Washington to join the negotiations. The source says that Obama told him that he would do that only if negotiators saw it as useful.
According to the Obama source, soon after they ended the call, McCain announced he was suspending his campaign and returning to Washington."
omfg...i lost a lot of respect on McCain for doing this lol....didn't he agree for a JOINT press release....why is he violating that promise and now "challenge" OBama to do the same...when it's Obama's idea ...
read the above.

Exactly, just a statement...

A wise decision from McCain.
This crisis practically forced the candidates to talk about the economy and what they will do about it if they get elected.
But that's not something they are prepared for.
So they halt the campaign until they can once again talk about the kind of stuff they want these elections to be about: how much of a Muslim Obama is and how often Palin talks to God.

Bush he just said 'we should make a joint statement'. If anything you could argue it shows the diff that Obama just wants to use as he is always saying empty words where as McCain is actually going to go in and do something... Besides McCain is very good at breaking up this type of stuff and is basically the republican party leader!

Also to what degree is McCain intending to suspend the campaign, if hes not noisy in the press for a while I think he might run the risk of pulling a Guilani.
I think its just him personally I would assume Palin will still be campaigning as she isn't in the senate. Also thats impossible in a national campaign as proved in the past even total phonies can run(John Kerry) and get a legit shot as probably a third of the country is voting for them basically by default thats just the sysyem...Also to what degree is McCain intending to suspend the campaign, if hes not noisy in the press for a while I think he might run the risk of pulling a Guilani.

Well McCain and Palin have been campaigning together, and shes been basically sequestered for the last couple weeks. I didn't mean he would just disappear on as big a scale but I think if hes not loud he might lose some independents.
And as far as the Kerry thing goes they are all total phonies, its part of the job.
Ok for those of you who say Obama was going to do the same thing McCain just did, didn't Obama just say that a president should be able to multi-task and that he would not suspend his campaign? He said that if he was needed people would contact him and he could deal with him himself, so I don't see how anyone could accuse McCain of trying to make his statement before Obama if Obama did not intend to do it in the first place.
