Kingdoms battle CTD

Hey everyone, I'm wondering if someone has a solution to this.

I finally decided to buy Kingdoms yesterday, but unfortunately after installing it and patching it to 1.5 there remains a serious problem. The campaign maps work fine, but every time I try to load a battle the game CTDs. The message is of the hated "MTW has encountered an unspecified error and will now close" variety. I've been unable to find a solution on the internet. Has anyone else had this problem, or know what to do about it?

By the way, I'm on vista. That might matter.

Edit: I'm also using no mods, fresh vanilla install. The only thing I changed was the descr_strat file in M2TW original so I wouldn't have to unlock the other factions.

Have you unpacked the game data and maybe forgot to delete those two files data\descr_geography_new.txt and data\descr_geography_new.db as said in the readme file?

As I understand, you just installed Kingdoms expansion onto old M2TW installation? If it so, try to reinstall them both. And try not to change anything until first successful run.

will try. which patches, if any, should I install on M2TW regular before installing Kingdoms?

None. All you need is already in the Kingdoms expansion and it will be installed automatically (except the latest 1.5 Kingdoms patch).

Rock on! It's working! Too bad I lost my vanilla Byzantine campaign, but ah well. Worse tragedies have occurred. Thanks to both of ya for the help
