    Default Interacial Children?

Do you think mix-race people live shorter than pure race people? Do their genes get like screwed up and like get lukemia and stuff????? (not all but I mean, do they have higher chance?) Will it be harder for them to get blood donation? I just want to know.

I know that interacial children have less chance of having hemophilia and like autism or down syndrome but like for other health issues?:hmmm:

What is the bollocks with less chance of autism?

    Not quite true lol.
Your lego house isn't more likely to crumble apart when it's made of same coloured blocks either.
The problem with "purity" is just that possibly already existing genetic mutations are more likely to spread (because everyone has them), but that is only the case in incest, and even then the incestious parties would have to have the same mutation anyway, because otherwise the new soon-to-be child may actually just get the chromosome string that doesn't include this mutation.

    1. There is no such thing as pure race people

    2. The 'purer' you are, the more prone you are to genetic diseases.

    3. There is no connection between blood type and race, so no.

    4. Scotland is a pretty pure place, a lot of us are pretty much celts bar the odd englishman, and we have the lowest life expectancy in europe. Japanese are pretty pure too, they have an extremely high life expectancy. Again, you seem to think race actually makes people different, all it is is slightly different structure and the odd genetic difference such as immunity to certain diseases.
A new mobile phone tower went up in a town in the USA, and the local newspaper asked a number of people what they thought of it. Some said they noticed their cellphone reception was better. Some said they noticed the tower was affecting their health.

A local administrator was asked to comment. He nodded sagely, and said simply: "Wow. And think about how much more pronounced these effects will be once the tower is actually operational."

What!? You mean they exist? In rl? Blecccch! Such infestations must be hunted down and eliminated, save for the occasional female that meets...certain expectations

Would have been funny if Hitler defeated the allies in WW2 and made his pure race, only to realize a new wave of chicken pox was about to make them all extinct!

Load of , race doesn't even exist biologically, it's a social category, not a biological one.

If anything mixed-race children get a much more diverse gene pool to draw on. I think according to modern theories of evolution (or perhaps archaic theories, I dunno) this is actually a good thing for their chances of survival. The probabilities are pretty complicated though. You'll probably see all manner of results, from kids who die much younger to people who live lots longer, from people who get more diseases to people who get fewer. Might make an excellent dissertation, but as a general guideline on what's going to happen its completely meaningless.

Usually mixed race children have a larger gene pool witch reduces chances of certain deceases especially those that can be normal to one of the parent’s family. However because of the diverse gene pool it reduces the chance to get genes suited for one special environment.

    Short answer
A larger genepool is in theory an advantage when it comes to recessive genetic diseases (the most common type of inherited diseases). This kind of diseases includes hemophilia but not leukemia (you can inherit genes making leukemia more likely to get it but it's so complicated that we haven't figured everything out yet).

Blood types are not related to this problem, moving from a population where your blood type is common to a population where it is less common would however cause those problems. I would actually benefit from moving to most other places on earth. I'm an ethnic swede but have a bloodtype that is 2,6 times more common in Korea.

What a "recessive genetic disease" is

Every cell inside your body contains two DNA helixes. These are a combination of the DNA from your parents. The sperm contains one DNA helixes that is a mixture of the two helixes in your fathers cells and the egg contains a DNA helix combined from your mothers two DNA helixes. The DNA helixes from your parents are then mixed to create two DNA helixes that consists of DNA from both your parents.

A recessive genetic disease is only active if both DNA helixes suffers from defects in the same place. This means that a healthy person can be carrying one faulty gene and one working gene. The working gene is enough for the cells needing it to do their work. This means that for a person to be affected will they need the same defect in both DNA helixes.

Why there are very few dominant genetic diseases
This is a very good example of natural selection. If everyone who carried one faulty gene suffered from a serious disease would it essentially exterminate the carriers. The carriers would simply die before they reproduce and the gene would disappear together with the first carrier. Therefor are pretty much all dominant genetic diseases far less severe than the recessive ones (or affecting you at an older age). Being recessive allows the gene to be passed on for generations before someone suffers the bad luck of getting a pair of it.

And how does this help interracial children?
Being a carrier of a recessive genetic disease is common. The chance of two people having the same defective gene meeting and getting a child is however far smaller. The most effective way to meet someone who carries the same defective gene is to have a baby with a close relative. People from different races are less closely related and therefor generally less likely to carry the same defective gene.

Some simple examples on how this affects you
Lets say that swedes have a 0,1% chance to be carriers of "instant death disease", somalis 0,01% and aboriginals 0,1% chance. The reason that I call it "instant death disease" is that it's late and I don't want to factor in all the people suffering from the disease that still have babies (it will barely change the numbers).

    Two swedes getting a child
    with "Instant death disease"
0,001*0,001 = 1/1 000 000 (equal to one child in 1 million suffering from the disease)

A swede and a somali getting a child
    with "Instant death disease"
0,001*0,0001 = 1/10 000 000 (equal to one child in 10 million suffering from the disease)

A swede and an aboriginal getting a child with "Instant death disease"

0,001*0,001 = 1/1 000 000 (equal to one child in 1 million suffering from the disease)

As you can see is it not the difference of race that determines the risk. The important factor his how common it is for a recessive genetic disease to occur in a population. It is however normally so that a genetic disease is the most common within one race or population while it is far less common among other peoples on earth.

Please also note that just becuase you start moving people around the world will it not be the solution to recessive genetic diseases. Pakistanis in the UK are at the moment highly overrepresentated when it comes to genetic diseases due to excessive close relative marriages.

I also found a neat picture on wikipedia when trying to find a good disease to use in my calculation. It shows the risk of two carriers having a child suffering from the disease, carrying it or being completly healthy.

The same way as everyone else. You have to fight someone with the same type of tissue and immunosystem (it is quite similar to blood transfusions but alot harder to find a suitable donor). Becuase your a mixture of your parents DNA will it actually not be certain that you can recieve blood/organs from your parents, there is a very good chance that you won't have the same tissue type/blood type. Instead you will have to look around for someone that by chance have an organ that is more acceptable for your body. There is a limited number of types you can have and I think* pretty much all races includes all types wich means that interracial children won't have bigger trouble than others to find a suitable donor.

    On the issue of race:

Race is politically worthless but for a geneticist are they highly useful since we can use them to easily define a population (we do however in general define populations as smaller groups like "people who's ancestors have lived on Iceland since 1000AD").

Race is alot like these two stone walls. We cannot characterise a single stone by looking at one of the walls. We can however easily get important data like height or weight of the wall by measuring it. By measuring the density of a part of the wall and multiply it with the total volume of the wall will we also be able to estimate how much the whole wall weights. This is why we for example have charts showing what different blood types are common in different nations and races, it helps us estimate what blood types are going to be used the most in that population.

*I've studied genetics, not medicine so I can handle genetic diseases but organ donations are abit outside my field.

    What about the so-called "epigenome"?

And what is the difference in effects on variations in mitochondrial dna and regular (nucleic?) dna? [forgive and ignore this question if it's stupid and irrelevant, I don't know any better]

Humans can get organ donations from pigs and it will work much the same, don't you get it? Mixed race has pretty much NO EFFECT ON ANYTHING!

You seem to think race is biologically important. It isn't. Skin color and facial structure is very very minor. We're all the same species. It's like cats with different fur patterns, or ear sizes, they may look different, but they're still cats.

Jesus, what do they teach you in...wherever?
