Mark Buse is not just a Chief of Staff for a homophobic United States Senator, but he is helping that Senator get elected to the White House.

Does Mark Buse fit the Barney Frank rule? Without a doubt. While McCain voted against the Federal Marriage Amendment, he supports amending state constitutions defining marriage as between a man and a woman. McCain knows our country needs everyone who wants to serve in the military and he knows that DADT is wrong, yet he swings to the right on repealing it.

Worst of all, and a demonstration of his inability to act rationally and with the country's best interests at heart, he picked someone who, if she becomes president (very likely), will be the most homophobic in American history.

With that in mind, and after confirming the information with two other sources, I decided it was time to present Buse the Roy Cohn Award for working against the interests of the lesbian and gay community while living as a gay man.

Umm... lol?

A question though, how homophobic is McCain?

And secondly, the guy should be shamed, it is rightfully so. Hypocrite.

Reverse your comment, does the fact some are homophobic make the entire party homophobic? Besides this is about Mccain who is hardly homophobic but rather see the issue of "gay marriage" being a state issue to decide. And to reverse it even still there are some whacky left wingers who probably view Log Cabin Republicans as not REALLY being gay or self hating gays...same way some of them cant grasp the concept of black or Hispanic republicans.

Well I guess your right, the US system does allow for more personal beliefs among politicians, as reflected in your federal culture. I wish it was the same in the UK, I wish independents had more of a chance, but of course even in America there are partisans.

Yeah there is nothing about being gay that makes you fiscally liberal, or pro choice (an interesting issue to watch is how gay rights groups react to tests that could determine a babies sexuality in the womb.)

Surely it would be far more interesting to see how pro-life groups react to the discovery of such tests, since such groups are usually also anti-homosexual (being generally of Christian strain). What I would expect to see is that the present division between those opposed to abortion for any reason, and those who make an exception for incest and rape, will change to those who oppose abortion for any reason, and those who make an exception for incest, rape and homosexuality.

My understanding is that a lot of gay staffers work for politicians who are anti-gay. Sometimes the staffers even end up working to create bills that are anti-gay.
