Any reason to build a Hippodrome?
I'm playing as the Romans and I just got the Marian reforms and I can't see a reason to build a Hippodrome on the Italian penninsula. You can train the post-reform cavalry with only the stables and roman citizenship barracks. What is the point of the Hippodrome?
I know you need it to build Elephants in Africa and I guess you need it for some other AoR units in other areas, but you don't need it at all for the straight up Roman areas. Does it give governors certain traits or retinue? I just don't see a point of building it in Italy.

Generally speaking, what you see is what you get with the Hippodrome. If it doesn't add units, don't build it.
The (very) minor exceptions to this is that you can get the trusty_steed ancillary (+1 cavalry command, -1 infantry command) and the RacesFanRomanVice trait, which maxes out at -2 unrest and -1 management.

Yeah only time I build one is for the retinue addition or if there is an existing stable in a different culture then I just upgrade to the hippodrome.
