Macedonians and Ptolemies are best buddies?

In my current campaign as Rome, Macedonia and Egypt (and Bactria TBH) totally pwned the Seleucids. They now have a very long border across the Asia Minor and are both superpowers. The problem for me (as I was just attacked by the Macedonians) is that they get along just fine, no war between them. Is this scripted somehow, or is it just my bad luck.
BTW. It seems that the Seleucids still have one settlement somewhere, could this be the reason?

happened in my Rome campaign as well. No worries, the Ptolemies will get itchy after a while and try their luck

BTW. does anyone know with how many factions can a AI controlled faction be at war simoultaneously? Is there such a limitation at a first place?

No real limit as far as I'm aware. The AI is less likely to choose to start another war when it is already at war, but that doesn't prevent others from attacking them. If both Ptolemy and Macedon are at war with lots of people, that could explain what you're seeing as neither side is will to start another front.

Of course, that logic goes out the door when the AI has a human player with a land border.

If they're at war with you, the Maks will probably send a bucketload of stacks your way, weakening their military presence on other borders. Usually the AI recognises this, and takes advantage. All you need to do is deal with those stacks...

Update: I'm seriously kicking a$$ on all fronts, but the Macedonians and Egyptians are still in peace. Now I'm certain is that the reason is because Seleucids are still alive (only 2 settlements in Oman and southern Iran), and the Ptolemies are at war with Bactrians, seriously pwning them. Is this hardcoded (Mac's and Ptollies at peace if Seleucids are alive)?
