Which is the best heavy cavalry, heavy infantry, missile cavalry in Medieval 2 Total War?

Royal Military Academy had analyzed all units and shows you the ranking in all respects. Which is the most powerful heavy cavalry? the strongest heavy infantry? and the best mobility missiles cavalry...etc. Help you to select a faction for new game, or to organize your army, or to command in your battle.

The Score and Ranking depend on the calculated result, from the database and an objective formula.

According to database, We calculated the ranking in 6 parameters (Attack, Defence, Mobility, Cost, Recruit, Popularity) by a complex objective formula, refer to many people’s research and experience.

Nice project.
Could you post the formula used? And what game version have you used? Varangian Guard being 3rd on Heavy Infantry list seems odd.

Overall it looks like a decent list. Of course you're going to have a lot of people disagree with your findings.
Some units are much better suited for tactical exploit and this isn't a factor in your calculation by the looks of it.

Aventuros as a spearman is only ranked 11th even though their stats are far superior of every other spearman. Their spears are also longer than the normal spearman units which isn't taken into account as far as I can tell. They are best used in spearwall formation with flank cover in which case many units can't even break their spearwall.
But then again, factoring all these things into account is like... impossible. Nice job for making chars of the things you *can* calculate though.

it's simple quality posts are better than quantity, it's not because somone as 15000 posts that he is a better member than one with 120.

How does this system calculate the score? English Knights can put down Lancers no problem because they have an uber armor-piercing melee attack, so how is it that Lancers come 3rd but English Knights 26th?

I don't think popularity should play a role in the score at all :hmmm:

After received many people's opinions, I have a few modification in the Ranking calculation.
Now the ranking shows by average of (attack, defence, mobility, cost, recruit) default.
And therefore the ranking we known may changed.
You can checking the box on top of the ranking table, average score will recalculate dynamic.

However, the score and ranking just a static result. Every unit plays good or bad depend on how your control in a combat.
So, this is the most fun in totalwar.

I agreee Aventuros is a very good unit As you said, you can see Aventuros is ranked 1st in order by attack. and ranked 2nd in average of (attack + defence + mobility).

Best Cavalry: Tsar's Guard (or Constable of Jerusalem if including Kingdoms)
Best Missile Cavalry: Dvor
Best Missile Infantry: Scots Guard (or Saethwyr if including Kingdoms)
Best Heavy Infantry: Hashashim (or Canons of the Holy Sepulcher if including Kingdoms)

That's my opinion on things.

The site seemed well done, however I didn't agree much with the average rankings. For a heavy cavalry unit for example, isn't defence and damage more important for a heavy cavalry unit's overall ranking than mobility is? And yet mobility is an important factor in the overall cavalry ranking (hence mailed knights being at number 1 ).

If all of the cavalry in the game included I would pick Turkish general's bodyguards. You guys are talking about tsar's guard but only 21 general's bodyguards of the Turks beat 41 tsar's guards in a short time and with a lot less casualties. So then I tried Turkish general's bodyguard against Russian general's bodyguards, Spanish conquistadores and Spanish general's bodyguards and the Turks won again with ease. Therefore I pick the general's bodyguards of the Islamic factions the best of all cavalry in Medieval 2 Total War.

Also Quapukulu win against Chivalric Knights, Royal Mamluks and Lancers and all the others that you guys say are really good cavalries but I cannot remember their names now.

There are so many combinations I cannot even do all If I am missing any, tell me.
