So i assume you all got the PM about TFT using RS as their base, should we let the leader get access to RS2 before a public release? Invite him in too be a RS team member, so he can just see what were doing with RS2 or?

wierd, i didnt get a pm from them.
TBH, im against bringing anyone in here who isnt directly working on RS2,if they want to base TFT off of RS2 thats fine, but not till we release it.

just my two uneducated two cents.

I don't think they are asking to be members...only to be allowed to advertize in our forum and use RS for their main mod. Which I think is an honor.

Yeh i know that, but what im saying is should we just let them go ahead and use RS1 or do we let them use 2.0? Because if they wanna do a mod and put in heaps of effort only to have it superceded when we release 2.0 then thats unfair to them.

RS2 isn't ready, how can we let them use it?

They'll have a great time with 1.5; they can always switch when we release the new mod.

As true as that may be, we cant exactly hope that they will want to wait till we have rs2.0 ready to go before they start their modifications to it.

I'd say let them get on with 1.5, at least in my opinion

Personally, I say let them stay in their own forums. They've been given forum(s) here at twcenter for a reason, let them stay there and use them. If they want to advertise there that they're using RS (either 1.5 or 2) that their perogative, but our forums shouldn't be turned into an advertising space for others.

Just as a note, I didn't get a PM either.

Well, first of all, RTR6 has been modified numerous times even though RTR7 is being worked on, so I don't think it's a new thing for people to use an older version of a mod to portray specific things.

Secondly, with the death of CB, I think it's obvious to everyone that the most visible, most worked on, most promising and probably most popular mod is....you got it....RS1.5 and RS2. It says something about our ideas, intentions, and determination that people want to use RS1.5 for other things. Heck, RS2 is popular even though it isn't released!!

Third, this may well bring some more 'hands to the task' in a round-about way....and we certainly need them, and will need them when it comes time to test this monster.

Fourth, I have foreseen this sort of thing happening (though I've kept my mouth shut about it) simply because this mod, like it's name, is looming on the horizon, rising out of the depths, ready to blow this site into a frenzy. We are the only ones who have a concept of the 'whole'...others have seen only bits and pieces and are STILL excited. I'm beginning to see the whole and getting depressed because I can't do enough, fast enough to get the thing done!! But what I DO see suggests that RS2 will be 'almost' like CA releasing RTW2 on an MTW2 engine. (And they probably never will unless they make Tone and the boys rich by buying their work!)

The short of the long being that this mod is going to be INCREDIBLY popular....we might as well accept that and get used to it. I say, the more the merrier.

That's also the sense that I get, which is why I think the last batch of previews we do should be as polished and compelling as possible -- raise the anticipation to a fever pitch, and then drop the RS2 bomb on the forums!

I'm a former Moderator of the TFT forum I have a understanding of what they want to do. I say we just let them use the 1.5b version. There a great bunch of guys over there and I do Miss them.

On the technical side of it RS2 is still not at the level for saves to be past around like what at the TFT is used for. So that's my opinion.

I should probably rephrase what I wrote earlier, it seems . . . harsher than I intended. I do not mind them having a single thread in our forum for advertising purposes, nor do I mind them using our most currently released versions for their games. The initial message sounded as if they wanted to move their forums into ours and I do not think that it should, but I do believe I misinterpreted the original message.

I also have a problem with their thread being stickied, I do not think it should be. Why does their game deserve a more prominent role in our forum then any other similar type game (for instance the Augustus one). If TFT turns out to be popular, their thread will continue to be at the top, otherwise it will move down into obscurity, as all old/unpopular topics should.

Hey guys I think there's a major misunderstanding here.

What's being discussed is an after action report forum and multiplayer AAR section called The First TRiumvirate ....and NOT the porting of the first Triumvirate mods that are currently based on RTR.

    Big difference.
