Smaller banners in Americas campaign?

Whenever I try out a mod, I always copy a descr_banners_new.xml file which I have modified to show banners drastically reduced in size to the data folder of that mod, thereby getting banners instead of flagpoles on the battlefields. It has worked for the Retrofit mod, too. But it doesn't when it comes to the official Americas "mod". Neither when placing the file in the data folder of the Americas "mod" nor when placing it in the data folder of M2TW proper. Should this file be named to something else in order to work here or what gives? Anybody knows?

Edit: Well, I guess nobody knows. I'll simply have to disable all banners there then. The flagpoles bug me too much.
