These meetings takes place in a house in central Rome rented by Marcus Aelius Triarius.
All posts here are unknown for everyone that is not participating in the
meeting, even members of this organisation.

This is not a political party as we know today, this is a meeting for those who
share the same political views, there is no such thing as Optimates or
Populares, what counts is if you are Patrician or Plebeian.

Nobel senators, we are the elite of Rome, our ancestors where those who opposed the tyrannic Kings, those who build up our society from the ground and made the fondation of The Republic.

The house was located in the central part of Rome, not too close to Curian, but close enough.
Here, they could talk undisturbed without the plebs could be as much as imagined what was going on.

As Marcus walked back home, he heard some people that had gathered in the streets taking aboute a groupe of senators who called themselves "THE POPVLARES".
A groupe of roman senators feeding the plebs with hope of equal opportunities, this was truly outrageous.
The republic was in great danger if more senators would join them, the balance in the senate would be moved, a surly a tyrant would rise with the suport of the plebs, a new king.

Gaius Octavius walks up the street and enters the house,he walks towards Marcus and says.

Marcvs, I have come at the behest of all my morals and against the ideals I hold dear. I care for the people Marcvs. Probably in a way you do not approve, but do not think me a populist. I seek to help the people with power, not to help them so that I may reap the rewards. The Populares are a malign cancer at the moment. They fight for their gain at our peoples expense. Their disgraceful pampering for the peoples support; instead of supporting their people has sickened me to this, this horrifying point.

So why am I here you ask? To sell my soul to protect the people. Even if that means meeting with you, theirs and my own enemy.

I would not complain about the distribution of land to the army were it not for that fact that there are people more in need of it, and the fact that this was politically motivated, and not sincere. The ruling populists must be stopped now for the sake of the republic. They threaten the system with their naive games and their already large powerbase. We have to strike them down somehow.

I wish Carthage to be gone from our land. Their soldiers in the south are truly a stain upon our honour, but how can we effectively wage war without a strong army and without the money gained from our alliance? I do not seek war, but war is on our doorsteps. We have rebels in the north and Punic dogs to our south. We have no choice. I am going to support a declaration of war with Carthage given the fact they have sought war with us. I ask for support against the probable populist attacks.

ooc: finally, the optimates are back

We should let Carthage make the first strike while preparing our armies for the inevitable war. Let them march through Italy, but escort them with our soldiers. Force the Carthaginians to traverse the daunting hills of Father Apennine while reinforcing the shores facing Sicily, Sardinia, and Corsica. Then, when the Carthaginians attack us in the mountains, we will pour across the strait and take all of Sicily while simultaneously snatching Corsica and Sardinia from Carthaginian grasps.

Men, I bring word from a young aspiring senator named Decimus Junius Aquila. He told me this;

"I do not wish it to become common knowledge at this time, but I would like to announce that I am joining the Optimates on election day and request their support for my campaign for the office of Quaestor. I feel that we must stand united against the opportunists amongst the Populares who would take any change they can to abuse the fickle mob for their own political benefit and to the expense of the traditional Republic. I feel it is fitting that I request the support of the "good men" from one of their leaders and a sitting Consul."

I feel we should help this man in his quest, as it only serves to increase our share within the Cvria.
