I posted this on the main forum, but I don't want it to get lost so I figured I would place it here even though it is a very small mod.
Even with the sexist attitudes of the medieval era, it was considered that nobility and bloodlines, even some titles or even claims over lands and kingdoms were also transmitted by the mother. E.g., a grandson of the great king Caralampio I would still be proud of his line even if his relation was through the king's daughter, and he would be considered rightly a member of the Royal family.
In Stainless Steel the "of xxx blood" (xxx being English, French, etc.) is onl y transmitted by the father, so some prefer to not marry their princesses so to keep the bloodline. In this little tweak, I have made it so "of xxx blood" is also transmitted by the mother (a princess, not the generic women that only appear on the tree).
-----------------------------------------------
The file export_descr_character_traits that is in the Royalwomen folder will give you the basic micromod, which will have the following effects:
-The sons of your princesses that remained in your faction will have the "of xxx blood" trait. For instance if you are Castile, the son of your princess that married to Juan de Talavera will be of Spanish blood, descendant of the famous Alfonso VI. But, his name will be de Talavera; can't deny the rights of the father OK? His male descendants will also continue the bloodline, but it will be lost on his daughters (unless he becomes heir, then his daughters will be princesses and keep the bloodline).
-If your king or heir marry foreign princesses, they will not transmit their bloodlines into your family, neither will your princesses that you give away to other factions, transmit your bloodline to that faction.
The net effect is that you no longer need to be so wary of marrying your pirncesses, their sons will at least be of the blood and in case they becomes heirs or kings at least something of the founding dynasty will be kept. This is the version I'm using and the one I recommend.
----------------------------------------------------
The other file export_descr_character_traits that is inside the 'European Bloodlines' folder will give you all the bloodlines of princesses. I included it because some said they might like multiple bloodlines. I consider it experimental.
If your heir or king marries a foreign princess, the descendants will also have the mother's line. For instance, if Rodrigo the prince of Castile marries Constance Capet of France, their son will be both "of English blood" and "of French blood". The funny part is that the trait description for French blood will say that he is very loyal to the Capet line... but the +1 Loyalty he gets from the trait is for Spain, not France. (I might fix the text for the trait later so it makes more sense).
If you give your princess away to another country, you might well later on encounter foreign generals that claim your faction's bloodline... She will give it to her sons. This is purely a trait though, no danger of him claiming your throne!
You have to be careful not to clutter your family with too many bloodlines I think. For instance, Rodrigo's son above who has both Spanish and French royal ascendants, if he marries a Polish princess his sons will be of French, Spanish and Polish ascent. If one of these sons marries a Danish princess, his sons will be of French, Spanish, Polish and Danish blood...
And, princesses will get all of daddy's bloodlines, and transmit them to their sons.
***A version with BGR traits removed can be found in post #19.
