Can any of your rigs out there run the 24000 man peasant battle smoothly?

if it can what is it?

Well, depends on how you define "smoothly", but i don't think it's possible.

would be rather stunning. i wonder if the creaters of total war have computers that are capable of it. (me thinks they probably do, or at least kinda close)

a true test of a computer's ability is running full max settings with 24000 peasants on 6x speed smoothly

Ahh cool, oki so its impossible at the moment, thankye,

I've got quite a nice one (quad core, 8gb ram, 4870 x2) and was worried I didn't have it optimised right.

I get a playable fps on max settings with 24000 peasants
(I think it ranges in the 5-15 fps mark, although I didn't use a frame-rate counter so I'm only guessing).

Tried lowering the graphics, no difference at all so it must be a cpu bottleneck, probably because the game uses 1 core so only using 3.4 ghz...

    very interesting.

I've seen some player screens from the BC forums and they're pretty damn close, here's Miraj's battle on a new gaming rig, at 1920x1200. Wow. Has to be at least 10 000 men.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    Here's another MASSIVE battle:

Yeh I don't really want to do a 24000 peasant battle, it was more a question for interests sake.

My largest real battle during a campaign involved 15,000 men. I was defending Rome against the infidels who came to save their pope from my mighty Turkish army. I had 3 to 5 fps on average.

I get about 15-16,000 on the field before my starts to lag.

BUT MY PC CAN ONLY HANDLE ABOUT 6,000 IN RTW ,, I THINK ITS BECAUSE RTW ONLY USES ONE OF MY PROCESSORS CORES ,, SINCE IT CAME OUT BEFORE THE QUAD CORE PROCESSORS..

M2 Vanilla and Kingdoms also use only one core but are better programmed.
