    Default An Interview

In the name of good sport and simply having fun, I want to play devils advocate (dont get on me about punctuation, half my flippin keyboard stopped working. )

I am a libertarian leaning conservative with some liberal tendancies.

Read through all my Pit posts and I trust you would at very least give me the benefit of the doubt on that claim.

I want to play KMFDM. They are german/english (for the most part/very international) industrial rock band (to the point of electronic punk.)

A huge story cut way short, they are innovative and extremely talented punk rockers playing music that reflects their peronalities and cries for social yustice. (The letter after I and before K stopped working in that mass destruction of my keyboard--I suspect Perry or Turner has something to do with it!!! )

I do not in any way, shape, or form believe everything KMFDM does politically or socially. But I do some, and empathize with even more.

The one thing I will grant them is the fact that they are extreme passionate, articulate, factual, consistant...if not sounding like they have a huge chip on their shoulder. But then, thats their motif. Really irritated (keeping in line with TWC profanity limits), really annoyed but not backing down or giving up on their causes.

So, ask KMFDM what they believe both politically and socially. Even though I do not aspouse to the same positions as KMFDM, I will do my darndest to answer true to their messages (or my interpretations of them.)

As a mod I will say first, right now, that if this gets goofy I will shut it down and/or yust delete the off topic posts.

    Politics. Thats KMFDM.

    Bring it on.

    Any question, any issue.

Ok, Thanatos, that would be spam right there.

Dont make me perma-ban you. (Ok, Ive been away from this mod stuff for a while. Maybe that was a tad brash.)

Seriously, I want to have fun with this but at the same time be serious. So, what was that you asked? As socialists do they look back at history and support Marx, Lennon and Stalin? :hmmm:

I will get back to you on that. Brill question.

Well, I did notice that they seemed to sing a lot about... radical cultural change? Are they honestly serious about what they sing, or is it just for money?

    OMG that is laughable!!!

KMFDM has bent over backwards to assure their fans the cheapest merchandise (taking massive cuts in their share), ticket prices and access.

They have faught the good fight against record labels, managers and agents. Their whole point is that this shouldnt all cost billions of dollars. Live a confortable life and pass the excess down to others who have a good heart, but werent lucky enough to make a ton of money.

They are so true to their message. Its one of the reasons this conservative listens with true intent to them.

Like most Socialists I know KMFDM believes that the Soviet Union, Red China, Cuba, and all the other so called Communist experiments werent really communist but rather brutal totalitarnianism and therefore the arguement that Communism doesnt work is a false assertion since it hasnt actually been tried yet.

Im not sure where they fall between the hard line Communists and the softer and more market driven Socialism (or as I guess the Social Democrats might represent? )

But Im sure among the band they fall all over both of those camps.

BTW, Im only doing this because I am interested in hearing the other side. Yea, I can be passionate about issues too. But once in a while you have to put down the ammo and yust try to understand the other side rather that plot to destroy it.

    Who knows.
