Well,as you may know,Soviet gained the Baltic states in 1939 because of the MRP pact, but when the Baltic states became independent, some areas that had been in the first republics, weren't in the re-independent ones.So I ask you, should Russia give those areas back to them?

And please don't spam this of me being a nationalist or a Russophobe...I am just ASKING!

The question your asking while interesting is also politically relevent (but in a circular sort of way). Russia currently is in the process of expansion... the fact that their orchastrated S. Ossetia war has worked in their favor and that S. Ossetia is planning to join the R. Fed. not to mention threats against Poland and the Ukraine... them giving up territories isnt even on the table...

However.... if things turn south (which is very likely) and there is a war regionally or globally and Russia loses (which it would) then YES Russia should be stripped of its Balkin/pre WWII territories... the last thing Czar Putin needs is to do is to recreate the Russian Empire

Canada? Us Norwegians won't stand for this.

I believe the areas should be left in Russia until they can prove that they won't turn into corrupt 3rd world states which are better left as just another republic in the federation, frankly they can't prove it.

Landlocked state in the middle of nowhere (aka Russia) vs Baltic states with coast lines as well as easy acces to Sweden and Finland and from there, the world.

    It's a difference.

And about Queen Maude lands, it's ours. Do you guys have a cake named "Queen Maude cake"? Nah, thought not!

Are you serious, no nation has the right to take land they got 60 years ago against the will of the population. Quit living in a fantasy world. By your failed logic, We in Britain have a right to all of Canada and half of America because we signed a peace treaty with France in 1815.

What do you mean your nation?
and you're saying I don't know anything...Russia does not equal the USSR. USSR, equals 11 republics of which Russia is just one. The USSR fell apart and each of the republics became independent.

Soldier of God, here is an answer from fellow Baltic person - NO.
Why would Estonia and Latvia need those tiny territories anyway - there is no particular economic value unless you want to expand your countries population with some mostly elderly Russian population .

Well, I may sound slightly ignorant but what were Russia's pre 1939 borders?
