    Default CTD on battle loading

What are the possible reasons for CTDs when loading a battle?

    My case:
I try to include a faction, Lithuania from Kingdoms, to my mod. In custom battle mode I can select Lithuania, can select its units, but if I try to load a battle with them, it chrashes.

I searched for "lithuania" in the Teutonic modeldb, and copied every entry to the appropriate entry in modeldb of my mod, changing the faction count and model count acordingly.

    What else could be wrong?

Edit: oh, and yes, I copied the models, skins and sprites in to the right folders in unit_models and unit_sprites

Of course. Other battles with vanilla units load just fine.

Is it turning back an error log that could provide any hints?

Haven't really spent time bug checking custom battles since I know 100% the ones in my mod are broken til I get around to re-defining the coords they take. This is listed in the "Crashes and How to Fix Them" thread:

    Unit crash
Q: Game crashes when you try to get the information about a unit or when you go to battle with a particular unit.

A: The data\export_descr_unit.txt info for that unit contains an error. Make sure the tabs and spaces are in the right place, information is not missing or duplicated, and that the 'soldier' line refers to a an actual unit (try not to change this).
So it's possible it could be EDU errors with one or all of the units.

    Cheers,
    Augustus

    Not much.
The last line in the system_log is
    Code:
21:09:48.718 [system.io] [info] open: found mods/retrofit/data/world/maps/base/descr_sounds_music_types.txt (from: C:\Programme\TotalWar\Medieval II Total War)
Does it mean this file causes the crash?

    No other errors.

So it's possible it could be EDU errors with one or all of the units.
Pretty unlikely. The game chrashes not only with the new lithuanian units, but with Ballistas etc. too.

Did you check that you copied all the new meshes, textures, and sprites to your mod? If a texture is specified in the battle_models.modeldb but M2TW cannot find that texture it will crash when you try to fight with that unit on the battlemap.
