Default generic error after modding text files

I've turned the greek cities into a syracuse faction in RTRPE 1.9. Just got done editing the various text files and I try it out. It brought me back to the main menu instead of the campaign map, and that was okay because I expect some sort of mistake. Well, this is what I got:

    Generic error:

World creation error: couldn't find unit description for unit "greek hoplite militia"

I have no idea what this means. I thought at first maybe the description in eport_units in the text folder. Made sure everything was in line, tried again, got the message again. Anyone know what this means?

That`s the entire message? It did not indicate the file, column and line?

Nope. That is it. Strange, isn't it?

Did you delete map.rwm? Have you checked around the first instance of that unit in descr_strat.txt?

If you play a custom battle, the unit and its description load up ok? Is greek hoplite militia used in any rebel faction's list?

    A modder's guide to CTDs: http://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=58801

A world of advice: Making too many changes at once makes it extremely hard to debug. Make small changes and test each one before making more.

Yeah, I deleted the map.rwm files and I decided to just take the units out of descr_strat. Now for some reason it says it can't find spouses. Not sure what I did, but I'll probably just start again. And thanks for the help guys, and that good advice HouseOfHam

perhaps not, all that means is that you have to delete the problem spouse, or delete all wifes if need be! it maks little difference as they'll marry on the game anyway

Actually that not likely what it means at all, it more likely means that sometime before that line is the error, but it can't be more precise in finding it.
