Default Info about this mod? Some questions...

    Hey guys,

    A small introduction:
I'm new to this forum....while I've been very active on other TWcenter.net forums like XGM ( eXtended Greek Mod for R:TW ) , Stainless Steel ( Mod for M2:TW ) and some others.....
I really enjoyed playing XGM. To me its one of the best mods for Rome Total War. But it's AI is very agressive. Its a mod where you have to blitzkrieg a lot and keep on fighting, fighting and then some more. I'm that kinda player who likes the build up economy first....good diplomacies...etc.
So that was kinda the downside of XGM to me.
I also tried Roma Resurrectum, but I quite didnt like that one.

So I stumbled across this forum today ....I read a few topics like "You most massive battle" etc.
This looks like a very cool mod. I've seen really great battle pictures of you guys.
I've also read the readme where it says that this mod is more for the "slower" players who dont like blitzkrieging thru campaign map. So thats good for the typo gamer I am.

Just a few questions since the Readme didnt answer them all.

    1) This mod is mainly focussed on the Romans. What are the best changes?
    2) I've seen Spartans, Egyptians....did the makers of this mod extended those factions too ( new units , new type of buildings )?
    3) How agressive is the AI? Is it as agressive as XGM...by sending full-stack army after another?
    4) Is it easier to make alliances with other factions?
    5) Any other new factions and modifications ( kinda like question 2 )?
    6) I've installed Rome:TW ( gold edition ) + mod XGM. Is it possible to install it a 2nd time and use it for SPQR ?

I just wanna have some answers to my questions before I go installing it. It sure looks interesting and worthwhile!

    greetings,

    Roger

    Hi Roger,
    1) This mod is mainly focused on the Romans. What are the best changes?
Named legions that can only be recruited at 1 city, there are 28 in total.
Pre/post Marius units, complete new set of roman units available later in the game.
    2) No. this mod for romans only, can be played as other factions, but AI cannot handle the roman campaign.
3)Yep, stack after stack I'm afraid.
    4)No.
5)yep New roman loyalty system, you need to educate your bad generals or they will revolt taking the stack with them!
    6)Dunno, thk not.
Roger peeps play SPQR for 3 reasons.
    1) Best battles, last for ages, need real tactics to win, very diff. no other mod plays as well in the battlefield.
    2) Best Roman unit roster with named legions.
3} Bug free, if you played other mods you know what I mean, SPQR was well tested!

    COuldnt resist replying
    1) Romans only
    2) No and no? MOd focuses on Rome, so other factions are not so deep...
    3) XGM which I played, is like a vanilla RTW on easy compared to SPQR. You get to play a battle each turn.
    4) Impossible, and due to stupid AI diplomacy, useless worthless. FDS might work tho
    5) lol? not really
    6) From what I know, XGM makes its own folder, while SPQR will write your game over. You might want to make extra RTW copy for SPQR

nice answers, for question 6 it is best to take a clean copy of RTW patched to version 1.5 becous other mods leave parts of there mod in the install folder, this will lead to problems. i remember i installed Ntw2 and afterwards i uninstalled it this left some files in the rtw folder afther installing spqr the game kept ctd when i started a battle on battlemap. so be sure you have a CLEAN install of Rtw.

well, most Q's are anwsered but i'll give it a go

    1) This mod is mainly focussed on the Romans. What are the best changes?
because it's based on the romans only, it makes it better then other mods

    2) I've seen Spartans, Egyptians....did the makers of this mod extended those factions too ( new units , new type of buildings )?
indeed they were expanded new units, more balanced, new skins etc

    3) How agressive is the AI? Is it as agressive as XGM...by sending full-stack army after another?
    Gauls tend to do that

    4) Is it easier to make alliances with other factions?
nope, you don't have to expect any alliances in SPQR TW you'll have to do it all yourself but don't worry, i'm sure you won't miss it

    5) Any other new factions and modifications ( kinda like question 2 )?
i don't think there are new factions... (unless i'm badly mistaking) except for the Roman Rebels
but LT has made so many small modifications that i cannot name them all, but all of them makes it one heck of a game
    6) I've installed Rome:TW ( gold edition ) + mod XGM. Is it possible to install it a 2nd time and use it for SPQR ?
yes you can just copy your RTW folder so you have 2 install SPQR TW on one of them

further, i think you don't really get the meaning of Blitzkrieg :hm:
it means that, from the start of your campaign, you attack everything you can, expand very fast from the first second
    and as SPQR TW says:
Definitely not for people accustomed to blitzkrieg tactics both on the battle map and the campaign map.
    this is your mod

believe me, just try the mod with houserules and script
    you'll love it!!!!

Just a note Val - I believe you cannot install the game twice, its more like copying that we all do to have the RTW where we can place the mods

I say try it anyway. And don't get turned off when you lose your first few battles trying to play with vanilla tactics.

    yeah sorry
i meant you could have RTW 2 times

anyhow, don't play vh/vh , the game is balanced on m/m

    just do this:

Roman campaign, huge scale (hopefully your pc can handle) m/m script and houserules

    unforgetable
