    Default MyMod (Working Title)

hi, i am new to this site and austrian, so excuse spelling mistakes etc.

i am working on a gc-mod with included kingdoms-features (stoneforts, stratmodels, factions, units, ...), 70-80 new provinces, new unit/building-tree, changed script and gameplay mechanics and much more ...
the work is still at the beginning so any idea or opinion is welcome.

for the fact that i am unskilled in posting screenshots,
    a tutorial would be cool

@hereje: hi, congratulations you`re the first visitor

    Let`s go on with modding:

    1st question (factions):

as far as i now the vanilla has 21 nations + normans, saxons & those dirty rebels with a limit of 31.

    i`ve already included (8):
    - Kingdom of Jerusalem (Kingdoms)
    - Kingdom of Armenia (modified Antioch from Kingdoms)
    - Sultanate of Persia
    - Turcoman Emirates
    - Teutonic Order (Kingdoms)
    - Cuman Empire (modified Lithuania from Kingdoms)
    - Duchy of Burgundy
    - Bulgaria
    - deleted normans & saxons (considering to delete milan & portugal :hmmm

    what`s your opinions/wishes about the 1-3 empty faction-slots?

To put screenshots in your posts:
    - Press printscreen while in game as many times as you like.
    - Go into your main Medieval II folder and go in the tgas folder. You need to convert them all to jpg or the like which can be done by opening them in your photoshop thing (I use GIMP) and saving them in .jpg.
    - Google 'Imageshack' and enter the first website. (http://imageshack.us/) Click on browse and search your computer for the picture you want then click 'upload'. It'll upload and you'll see your picture.
    - Copy the html code in one of the boxes under the picture and paste into a post on this site. Should appear when you click 'post' or 'preview post'.
    Done.

ok, the start doesn`t seem to create great interest !
do you want to have more facts or are any similar mods out there?

Well there's about 100 similar mods out there . One faction here or there, one feature here or there, is all that really differentiates a lot of the mods for M2. Besides Broken Crescent they pretty much all focus on the main M2 area, add factions, provinces, features, etc. of the mods that are out of development.

    Clouds Across Europe

    The Long Road

    Deus Lo Vult

    Kingdoms Grand Campaign Mod

    Lands to Conquer

    PRO DEO ET REGE

    Stainless Steel

All of the above essentially do what you're talking about doing. A little bit different in each one, but not a whole lot(though fanboys would say otherwise).

Now, if you want to work on your mod, more power to you, and good luck. Make the mod for yourself because you want your take on it though, don't make it for us, because if you do it might be an unfulfilled process. Also, make sure to read this thread:

    @Augustus Lucifer
thx for your hints (i`ve heard about these mods too). Tell me if i`ve missed something, but beside the fact that my mod will take place on the vanilla-map, it includes a lot of features, which weren`t combined in one big mod.
Let`s have look at this screenie:

+ kingdoms` models, units, features (like civil war, crusading nobles, ....)

Augustus Lucifer has a point. There are loads of mods like the one you're proposing. I personally like the variety but I think this niche is crowded as it is. If I were you I'd find a released mod that's near to your ideas and make changes to that one. You might even want to release it as a sub-mod (of the main original mod); with the permission of the mod creators obviously. I've been thinking of doing something similar myself.
What you might be interested it though is altering the time scale of a mod. Too many mods begin in 1080.

i absolutely understand & accept your opinion, but keep watching this thread, maybe you`ll find some new things .
For those who are interested, let`s talk about the game:

here are two of my new units (both part of the RRS):

-Caucasian Militia (Eastern Asia Minor & Caucasus)

    - Georgian Infantry (Georgian territories)

    What`s your opinion about them?

It's looking nice. So you are saying that this will not be on the vanilla map. What do you mean? Also What you have proposed is an extremely large project. Will you be using a team to help you? if you do get this done at least consider adding things that no other mod has. Sort of like a larger New world with another new world faction. Or adding realistic Kalmar union scripts. Example: England conquers Scotland and Ireland. They have the option to become Great Britain with new units etc. Also when you add a new faction or units consider the balancing. Remember if you make a mod someone is bound to play as thet <insert untouched faction name here> and if they cannot win because <insert really overpowered faction name here> Is taking all of their regions by turn 20 it kills the campaign. Beleive it or not people do play the moors, and other unliked factions. Other than that I will continue to say Good luck and I hope your mod is good as other German made mods.

Ok, i think my introduction was a little bit confusing ...
I`ll post an extended list of features and plans today 14pm.

    @saile1230:
faction balancing is one of the major parts of this mod. I do like to play the moors too, and have created some really cool new units + extended North African/Andalusian Provinces:

these stone-forts have pushed back 7 full stacks of the spanish in one of my test games .

now tunisia is well protected too (beside from that byzantine province over there:hmmm:, seems to be a scripting error ...)

a safe place to hold in dark times ...

Wow there are a lot of stone forts. You should consider finding an improved AI that uses the forts effectively.

an AI that uses the forts effectively should be in, as the forts will be mostly empty then, so it'll be too easy for the player to occupie them and to cripple enemy reinforcements.

looks promising, we'll see what you make out of it.
