Anyone watching this series? 2 episodes so far, first one was kinda of bleh but 2nd one as alot better. Despite their attempt to hype it it isnt exactly as "edgy" as they seem to think it is but it is entertaining.

I like it. My expectations before the 1st episode were very small but after watching it, it got me and now I'm looking forward to it every Sunday. I found the overall plot pretty interesting and unique. Vampires coming out of the coffin and living with humans. Vampires demanding equal rights.
If you never cared for Vampire movies, and I'm talking about the good ones, you definitely won't like this series. If you do, you might find it interesting.
Yeah didnt have high expectations either. Not keen on the comparison to homosexuality the series attempts to be making hell if I was gay Id be offended as in the last eposide where vampire Bill tells the others if they are going to flaunt their ways there will be a price to pay. Now granted flaunting their ways involved ripping apart people and draining them dry but stillSo I dont think the constant references/comparison work or add much to the series...the premise alone should be interesting enough then to see lame, lowbrow writing like God Hates Fangs protests..it just comes off as juvenile. Im actually liking it less each episode so unless there is a pay off soon Ill stop watching.

Ahahaha those poor discriminated vampires! Sounds likeseries.
The common culture of a tribe is a sign of its inner cohesion. But tribes are vanishing from the modern world, as are all forms of traditional society. Customs, practices, festivals, rituals and beliefs have acquired a flut and half-hearted quality which reflects our nomadic and rootless existence, predicated as we are on the global air-waves.

I really haven't been able to get into the series. Episode one really didn't do anything for me, cute hick girl wants to bang vampire dude - shocking. What I caught of episode two(will try to actually watch the whole thing at some point) was basically that being a vampire involves having some weird spastic face/arm seizure while railling some fetshist.
The underlying ideas are kinda cool though.
The sex stuff is a bit old imo, still I like all the kinds of short skirts and shorts I'm seeing.
I'm still waiting for the hook of the series. I mean, yeah they're vampires, and they demand equal rights. But that's not really a hook, there has to be some mysterious element or a dangerous one. I'm hoping the two vampires they mentioned in the third episode, the elder of that boyloving vampire and that elder's elder, a she if I'm not mistaken, bring some danger.
I honestly would've preferred if Bill was actually a really ancient vampire, maybe even the equivalent to the fantastical and semi-biblical Cain. It would've been a bit cliche but this weak version of vampires who almost get killed by a pair of redneck dealers just doesn't cut it.
Some day I'll actually write all the reviews I keep promising...
I saw some clips of it on Best Week Ever. It looked really stupid, or at least not to my liking.
Then again, this is coming from someone who watches Flapjack, Chowder and Spongebob Squarepants multiple times, so my opinion may be void.
I missed the first episode but I saw the second and third. The only thing that bothers me is yes some of us in the south live in trailor parks and have an accent. But damn if they aren't stereo typing us. The majority of our population is urbanized and we live in houses, just like ya'll. Most of us have twangs, but not the inbred "i can't understand you" accent.
Sure I've been called a xenophobe, but the truth is Im not. I honestly feel that America is the best country and all other countries aren't as good. That used to be called patriotism.
I hate shows with vampires;books,
idea ,
show--- the south is the only place everyone can make fun of; we are here to unite the world in derision of the south.
HBO's had some excellent series and miniseries over the past decade or so. Sopranos, Six Feet Under, Rome, Deadwood, Band of Brothers, John Adams.
True Blood is most certainly not one of these.
R.I.P. God Save The King (2008-2013)
Haven't checked it out yet. So....should I or should I not watch it? I could totally check it out on demand.
If you have time to kill and have seen everything else, sure go ahead.
Otherwise there's a lot better
Some day I'll actually write all the reviews I keep promising...
Any other thoughts?
Its an ok show, definitely not top notch but ok if you have time to kill. And KnightOfSicily how dare you mention great HBO shows, without mentioning Entourage.
And it's awesome.
Bumping this thread because the latest episode made me laugh, 'Vermont defacto-legalizes human/vampire marriage' because we would.
