ISLAMIC law has been officially adopted in Britain, with sharia courts given powers to rule on Muslim civil cases.

The government has quietly sanctioned the powers for sharia judges to rule on cases ranging from divorce and financial disputes to those involving domestic violence.

Rulings issued by a network of five sharia courts are enforceable with the full power of the judicial system, through the county courts or High Court.

Previously, the rulings of sharia courts in Britain could not be enforced, and depended on voluntary compliance among Muslims.

It has now emerged that sharia courts with these powers have been set up in London, Birmingham, Bradford and Manchester with the network’s headquarters in Nuneaton, Warwickshire. Two more courts are being planned for Glasgow and Edinburgh.

Only a matter of time, really. The same is trying to be set up in Canada, probably else where. It boggles my mind that the West can continuously import uneducated, radical individuals, who more often than not openly preach their hatred, and when it is not open, it is still well documented. It is demographic, cultural, and legal suicide. We appease and we appease, in the name of equality and understanding. All the while, they leave no doubt on their opinons of us- they hate us and everything we stand for.

Wow..... just wow. If i was a british i would be hugely pissed off by a thing like this.

In a modern western country only state courts should take decisions, having religious tribunals too is simply appaling. I think that in most other Eu countries a thing like this will provoke a huge row, I hope that now that this thing is pubblic a similar political storm happen in britain too and these courts are closed asap. Nonetheless the politicians and officials that allowed this should resign.

Over my dead body! I don't care which "positive" aspects of sharia law would be in use, different groups of people should not get special treatment in courts, especially on the basis of religion.
