Default Rome: Total War disk problem

Just bought Total War Eras. Shogun and Med installed just fine, got up to Rome...

the computer can't even read the disk.

Disk is brand new, but I can see a few scratches in one area.

There could be a problem with your DVD drive. However, have you tried cleaning the Rome:Total War disc?

The scratches may very well be the reason you're having trouble installing. It may seem minor, but they sometimes can be fatal (game-wise).

However, as others have said, try checking your DVD/CD drive, as the laser might finally be getting weak.

Yes, returning the disk may be the best way forward. I guess the other thing to check is if another PC can read the disc.

Hm. Well normally you can't return computer games. And Total War: Eras is a rare find. I doubt they'd have a replacement. I may still have the receipt though, and it's worth a try.

I think my drive is fine. Reads everything else perfectly. Though Med has an error too, now. So worth checking.

I'll probably try it one someone else's computer.

If all else fails, I gave my old copy of Rome an BI away, so I can get it back for install.

EDIT: And thanks for the suggestions, guys.
