Default No End in Sight - Iraq War Documentary

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/No_End_in_Sight

No End in Sight is a documentary film that focuses on the two year period following the invasion of Iraq in March 2003. The film asserts that serious mistakes made by the Bush administration during that time were the cause of ensuing problems in Iraq, such as the rise of the insurgency, looting of Iraq, a lack of security and basic utilities for many Iraqis, sectarian violence and, at one point, the risk of complete civil war.

Its an amazing and academy award winning documentary, receiving an average of 89 out of 100 on Metacritic.

Go see it, here is the trailer:

The documentary is about 1 year old but it still is excellent and many people might not have seen it.

Iraq was invaded by the mongols, looted and utterly destroyed...it is so once more, because another mongol invasion had started.
Reap the promised end to the struggle. Reap every point on our linear path.
Reap the smiles in time we borrow, every harvest relies on the last.
Reap the promising song of the sparrow, that they learned from the birth of sea.
Silenced by the threnody of the crows. Reap the fallen fruit of the dogwood tree.
But I witnessed in all this silence one soul's definition of beauty. and a backlit smile so temporary.
A facade so rich with evil history. Cast in direct opposition set to overwhelm this moment to shine and sleep.
came out on top of what was borrowed, and found all that beauty to be still...

What??? You're comparing the US invasion of Iraq to the Mongolian right? im kinda confused BTW, did you see the documentary? They criticize the laughable mistakes and arragonce of the administration during the invasion, not the invasion itself for the most part. Things such as the US not defending arm depots which were seized by the insurgents, the looting of Iraq, how the US created the insurgency by disbanning the Iraq army, lack of humanatarian supplies and defence for humanatarians, etc.

I've watched it....but its not really representative of the situation in Iraq at present.

It was made in 2006 and didn't premier until Jan. of 2007, a few weeks after plans for the Surge were announced, and before it even began.

Its almost a full two years out of date.

That said, its really superb when it comes to highlighting all the blunders that were made in the follow up to the invasion and the reconstruction efforts that took place immediately after in 2003 and 2004.

I think an excellent, more recent, documentary on the Iraq War, and the pre-emptive wars in general that we've had since the 50s, are very well covered in the documentary "Why We Fight".

It covers several reasons, from corruption to military keynesianism.

Why we fight was made in 2005 and doesn't describe why the situation got so out of hand like this one does.

you should watch it simply for the part where it shows you how those blackwater contractors shoot drivers on iraq highways. when I saw that, I kinda want them all executed. I do not like it when a group of crazies is out there representing usa by randomly shooting people.

“The only rule that ever made sense to me I learned from a history, not an economics, professor at Wharton. "Fear," he used to say, "fear is the most valuable commodity in the universe." That blew me away. "Turn on the TV," he'd say. "What are you seeing? People selling their products? No. People selling the fear of you having to live without their products." freakin' A, was he right. Fear of aging, fear of loneliness, fear of poverty, fear of failure. Fear is the most basic emotion we have. Fear is primal. Fear sells.” WWZ

Have you had your daily dose of fear yet? craziii

Its an excellent documentary, and we have discussed it many times before. I have recommended it myself. As Caelius stated though, it has no basis in current events.

Unfortunately watching that DVD ultimately leads to people drawing a final conclusion about a war that hasn't ended.

Frontline has a bunch of great documentaries you can watch for free.

    1) I would start with Rumsfeld's War: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontl...pentagon/view/

    2) A Company of Soldiers: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontl.../company/view/

    3) Possibly the best of all the Frontline docs, al qaeda's new front: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontl...ws/front/view/

    4) The Insurgency:http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontl...surgency/view/

    5) The Dark Side (Dick Cheney):http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/darkside/view/

    6) Return of the Taliban:http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/taliban/view/

    7) The Lost Year in Iraq:http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontl...ariniraq/view/

    8) Gangs of Iraq:http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontl...gsofiraq/view/

    9) Endgame:http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/endgame/view/

    10) Rules of Engagement (Haditha):http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/haditha/

    11) Bush's War:http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/bushswar/

All are around 60 minutes. I would recommend watching them all.
