I'm making a thread because of the 'Thread for Iraqis and Afganis who died as a result of the "war on terror"'' psuedo-bleeding heart thread, because hardly any would care about these people if the US wasn't occupying there.

I care about the people that are being exploited daily in Asia, Latin America, Africa and the Middle East that have their life styles and freedoms rolled back as a result of western exploitation. The only reason why 95% of this forum's populace is so high is because of the past, present and future suffering of millions of improverished people who would benefit greatly from mere a tenth of the resources you waste.

This one goes out to the 14 year old Indonesian Nike factory workers of the world that will have carpal tunnel by the time their 25 just so you could have your kicks €30 cheaper.

Oh bleed me dry. Make laws that stop the so called exploitation. Make laws like minimum wage and other such laws. But don't come crying here because their societies fail to support those weak. And you think all in the west profit from this? More like the stock owners of the companies doing this. And not all the western world got to where it is by exploiting, oh those so lovable third worlders.

Maybe the western world should close its factories in the third world and stop sending aid there. Then the fluffy people there can live their unexploited short lives in peace.

Maybe the West should have never exploited these countries in the first place. That way they could be even poorer, have less industry and technology, and basically live in the middle ages when carpal tunnel and child labour were the least of their problems.

these countries dont need to allow these global corporations into their country. They allow them there because they actually give people jobs. the pay may be but thats the real world for u. its thanks to western investment that these countries can develop their economies anyway.

Sorry, dear topic starter but I'll be realistic here: this is the way the world works. As long as there are rich people (us) wanting to have goods, there will always be others ready to give them to us.

We aren't "to blame" for this. It is just the way everything works. We want our nikes - as long as the people there are ready to become "prostitutes" for us, it will go on like this.

It is not us "exploiting" them. It's not like we force them to do anything or like we have any slaves etc. They are poor so they are happy for every crap job they can get. And nope, we are not to blame for their poverty.

Why "the white man has all the cargo" has been discussed thouroughly and would be too big and off-topic for this thread so I'll leave it as that.

I've never written to any multi-national company to demand cheaper products. Like everyone else I buy what they put on the shelves. Blame the big business men. Thousands of men in our country lost their lifelong trades when their industries were "outsourced" to third world countries.

"Deserve"? Who talks about "deserving" something? Did little tommy deserve getting born into poor family? I dunno. I don't think so. Does that change anything? No. I don't think I particularly "deserve" living in Germany. But that's the way it is and I am not responsible for being born a German. I feel no responsibility for those people - it is just chance that I was born here and they were born there. It is pointless to think about them all the time etc. I am here now - I'll live my life. I feel no guilt and never did.

"guilt"? What guilt? Why should I feel guilty? What for? I didn't do anything to cause this situation. I personally never felt "guilty" for some poor Africans. Why the hell should I? I feel guilty when I do something wrong. I didnt do anything wrong there.

I'm not going to get up on some high horse. I'm as guilty as anyone else about not giving a damn. Like others, I give what I can as long as I can support my own cushy lifestyle.

As a university student, I don't exactly have much money to help others. So I give the one thing I do have, and that's my free time. Call me an idiot, call me a hopeless idealist, but I try to work to make the world a better place for those less fortunate.
