Default Can you give me a lil help..?

Hi all, i just bought this game and its really fun ^_^ but.. i got a mission to join a holy war but thing is.. idk how to do that O.o so im wondering how do you join in the crusade of a holy war? Do i just have to go attack the place it tells me too? or do i acctually have to join by like saying i want to in some window that i cant seem to find? O.o

Also.. cuz im not sure about this, The guard mode button.. im sure this is good for defending.. but if i go to attack, is it better to turn this off or leave it on? or does it not matter either way when attacking?

OH and one more thing.. cuz i always seem to be out of money.. and i dont mean im low.. im normally in the hole like -1000 or so after every turn.. I keep having to use add_money # cheat so i can acctually make units and stuff -.- Is this because i have to many castles? cuz i have 4 castles and only 1 town.. or is it cuz i have to many troops? i have about.. 65 troops(units w/e) total

Oh and.. does anyone know of a mod for bowman that acctually shows the bow string being pulled back? not just the hand >.> i find this VERY annoying! also how the cavalry doesnt hold onto the reigns(w/e) of the house is annoying too.. but not so much as the archers

If you want to join a holy war:
1 get a general with eight units or more
2 right click on the generals unit card so you get a scroll that will show his details etc
3 on the bottom left corner (or bottom right?) there is a a button that has a cross if you want to go on a Crusade there's a cross or a Crecent Moon if you want to go on a Jihad
4 Youll automaticly join Crusade or Jihad

Guard mode is good for defending but turn of for attaking

Make more cities!!!! Your city:castle Ratio should be at least 2 cities :1 castle
also a thing that will help is get traderights and you only have five settlements
so get more land by going to war with sombody and sack sack sack.
You could also disband your useless units e.g. peasants

You should start by choosing an easy faction, such as England, good starting position, good infantry, great longbowmen and good knights. Try to conquer britain as soon as possible.

To join a holy war, or, crusade, you just choose a general (either your favourite general that you often fight with, or a young one that you want to make a great one) and then get some units (8 minimum) and right click the general and press the button in the corner that says "Join the Crusade" if you finish a crusade you get traits that increases command, piety and chivalry. You can also get Templar/Hospitaller and Teutonic order houses that allows you to recruit their superior units. You also get money and experience for the units in the crusading army. You can start a crusade by opening the faction window, click The Pope tab and then the blue button with a sword in it and choose a city that is a target of crusade. If it's grayed out a crusade is ongoing, recently finished or your reputation with the pope is not good enough.

About the money, as I said before, england is a great starting faction. You start with 2 castles and a few towns, and enough units to make 1½ armies. You should also disband all your units that you do not use, atleast so there's 1 or 2 units in each settlement, castles only need 1 unit or a governor, big cities 2-3 units and a governor and towns a governor or 1 unit. As long as they have a green/yellow smiley below the name of the settlement it's ok. Oh and, don't ever become a vassal to another faction, they take all your money every turn, like 90% or something for protection you wont get, kind of like a mafia.

Oh and check out the Mod forums, if you have Kingdoms expansion I recommend Stainless Steel, good for beginners and fixes alot of bugs and adds new factions and units and alot of other things.

And 62 units is way too much! You only need 1 army if you're in war with another faction, or 2 armies if you're fighting a faction like Holy Roman Empire, France, Egypt, cause they make new armies very fast. Delete atleast half of them, save 20 for an army and put the other 12 in the settlements, 3 in each. That'll save you like 6-7k every turn. Also you should only use peasants/militia in settlements, the quality of the unit does not affect the settlements order. Never put cavalry to guard a settlement, they're very expensive.

    next time,

i believe that bowstrings and horse reigns are only shown when the graphics "unit detail" setting is on high/very high

Bowstrings are never shown but Horse Reigns might be, you shouldn't let small things like that get your attention in an epic battle.

Yeah, but they don't actually pull back on the bowstrings. The strings are just there.

Guard button makes it so your troops will defend against an attack, but will not chase the attackers if the attackers rout or otherwise disengage. This keeps your battle line from getting out of whack.

LOL. You should have roughly 1 castle for every 4 cities. So, yes, you have way too many castles. Also, you have way too many troops for this early in the game: that is, by far, your biggest problem.

    I hope that helps.
