I'm an Obama supporter, but I'd like to know what people here in the forum have to say about it, why would someone vote for Barack Obama?

I am voting for obama because I want a democratically controlled government, I want the democrats to get the same power in government that the goddamn neocons had; and hopefully reverse all the damage that bush has done.

I am voting for obama and so is everyone I know, because we are tired of the endless folly of our current government and mccain is nothing more than another neo-con ultra christian conservative, ready to up the world.

And, really, a citizen of the United States don't have the right to say to any other person of other country to mind his own business, 'cause USA has minded business of all countries in the World, should I talk a little about the military dictatures Reagan helped here in South America?

I actually find it funny how many people are planning on voting for him because he is black. if you look at his life, the only thing that makes him a blackman is his skincolor, he is basically a white guy in blackface.

Is it that he was raised around white people that you're calling him an Oreo? Or that he's educated? Or that he doesn't speak in Ebonics?

I will vote for Obama because I don't want a Creationist in the white house.

Many of the totally retarded policies of Reagan and Bush can be traced back to, I think, this ridiculous belief.

How any one can take a Creationist seriously is beyond me.

you dont want to vote for someone because of their religious beliefs? wow, guess you would not have voted for some of our best presidents then. Believing in one thing is different from letting it interfer with your job.

Yeah, religious beliefs come into play. In fact, everything does, including pregnant daughters.

when then please show my where any president has had their policy heavily influenced by their religion? Jimmy carter was one of our bible thumpiest presidents and if im not mistaken, he didnt turn this into a theocracy.

And Obama isn't a creationist?... Creationists in government are badly represented, go get stabbed in front of a Church if you want well represented... Or maybe go pretend to be down on your luck outside a church, if you're not so good at getting stabbed outside a church

No, Obama is not a creationist. I can't provide any evidence for that directly right now, but I would bet every cent I own, that if you were to ask him if he believes the world was created 10,000 years ago, he would emphatically answer: "NO". Can any fellow Americans back me up on this one?

Furthermore, yes you are right that most creationists are decent people in the sense that want to do they right thing, but you are deluding yourself if you think the same does not apply to those who believe in the myriad of scientific theories that contradict Biblical young earth creationism. The real difference, between the groups is that "evolutionists" (a bad term, but one that I will use to shorten my post) are willing to put dogma aside, peruse the truth even if it makes them uncomfortable, learn about the world around them thwarting lethargy and intellectual laziness (the greatest disease humankind has ever known) and, oh yes, have an IQ above room temperature.

These are qualities that I think would be good in a president.

Yes, those same great presidents that believed blacks weren't really people.

Look I assume you are talking about those dudes like Washington and Co., and yes they were great for what they did. But elect them now and they would probably fall flat on their face.

So what if I care what they believe? Actually I retract that!

By what other conceivable standard could we judge a Candide then what he BELIEVES? I am sick and tired of the political discussion in our country centering around lipstick, and swift boats, and skin color, and "who you would like to have a beer with"

And just because it is a religious belief does not make it sacrosanct. Conservatives like to accuse others of political correctness, but take it from a market liberal: your statement is nothing but PC Bull****.

    Edit:
Furthermore, if you do not believe in evolution you do not understand, on any level, Biology, Ecology, Psychology, Sociology, Anthropology, and, thus, many of the connected sciences, including huge swaths of history, and in my opinion, morality. You would be unable to perform any effective governance in anything that involved these subjects. Whether or not the president would want his beliefs to effect his job, it would, will, and does.
