    I always like to see the Varyags. When norsemen attacked and tried to conquerer the city Constantinople. The current Emperor (can't remember which one) ending up hiring a Retinue of Norse warriors as his personal bodygaurd. Impressed with their tenacity and voraciousness in combat.

    It would interesting to see the faction leader accompanied by a retinue of Norse sell-swords.

    Ι think that for our period.. (1296 - 1389) the Emperor's retinue - bodyquard consisted from the unit of "Athanatoi". I'll search for that, but if you have ( or someone else) some clues just post them here, we'll appreciate that...

    that was a loose by advance battle...

    400 genoeses presents while the siege, Wiki say then Zustiniani was responsible of VIP defense-points. He was Protostrator(military office), I don't think then Danish sent any soldiers in 1453...

    Awesome!! For PL we could use only the 3rd pic... the others comes from 7th - 9th centuries...
