Default Chavez says US ambassador must leave and threatens USA

CARACAS, Venezuela - President Hugo Chavez ordered the U.S. ambassador to leave Venezuela within 72 hours on Thursday, accusing the diplomat of conspiring against his government and saying he would also withdraw his own envoy from Washington immediately.

Chavez made the move in solidarity with Bolivia after his Andean ally expelled the U.S. diplomat there, accusing him of aiding violent protests. He said a new American ambassador will not be welcome in Caracas "until there's a U.S. government that respects the people of Latin America," suggesting that diplomatic relations will be scaled back until President Bush leaves the White House.

"They're trying to do here what they were doing in Bolivia," Chavez said, accusing Washington of trying to oust him.

"That's enough ... from you, Yankees," Chavez said, using an expletive. Waving his fists in the air, he added: "I hold the government of the United States responsible for being behind all the conspiracies against our nations!"

Holding up a watch to check the time, Chavez declared: "From this moment, the Yankee ambassador in Caracas has 72 hours to leave Venezuela!" He told his foreign minister to recall Venezuela's ambassador to Washington, Bernardo Alvarez, "before they kick him out of there."
Simmering tensions between Venezuela and the U.S. began heating up even more this week after two Russian strategic bombers were deployed to the country at Chavez's invitation.

"The presence of those Russian planes in Venezuela is a warning," Chavez said Thursday. "There's nothing better to keep yourself from being attacked than to dissuade."

Ohh noes....Chavez got a hand on 2 russian bombers and he think we all gonna run now tearing our hair out in fear. This guy is a ing joke. He should try to be a late night show host instead of a dictator.

Quite the mouth on the little prick.

He should have heeded HM The King of Spain's words when he told him to shut the up.

Oh, and oddly enough- apparently, he also hosts a talk show while being President. O.o

    LOL...

Our only reply should be "Ok, see ya later." and just withdraw the ambassador.

However, if we want a war with them - just don't withdraw the ambassador, if he storms the compound he will be invading America - and then his country is conquered by the military forces we have patrolling the Caribbean.

Chavez feels his balls doubled their size since russian bombers landed in Venezuela.

not only did he threaten to expel the US ambasador but he also said this:

    http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?p...=latin_america

Chavez and Morales, who expelled the top U.S. envoy from his country two days ago, have accused the U.S. of backing opposition movements in their countries.

Chavez, a self-proclaimed socialist who refers to America as an ``empire,'' threatened to halt Venezuelan oil shipments to the U.S.
...and that will never happen. They need US petromoney no matter how much he hates America.

He's just excited and thinks Russia is there for him...how cute

Of course he is a bit paranoid however a part of that is for show and another part is because the US had tried to oust him. I still wonder whether the accusations of the US ambassador are true and to what extent.

But i sort of dismiss this as more rhetoric from Chavez.

Chavez is hardly a man to be taken seriously, let alone a political figure. I have a hunch that his end will not be pretty.

And say what you want about him, that picture makes him look like an evil Mickey Mouse.

Cavez is a populist and way too far left to understand the conflict with populism. This may play well for a few days at home. So what. Maybe this is simply a convenient show for an already planned change of ambassadors. No need for the USA to get excited or even react. Shake the ambasador's hand and wish him well returning to the Chavez paradise.

Chavez is like a cartoon character or a video game leader of a south/central american dictatorship...its almost funny. Its clear though he is doing this because of the election upcoming knowing he'll probably "allow" a new ambassador back but the US will probably tell him to piss off. I wonder how many of people in Venezuela listen to what he says and just laugh at the sheer insanity of it. Chavez is like what would happen if Baghdad Bob had ambition.

You know the thing chavez doesnt realize with his comment about the russian planes is that the russians have historically have little tolerance for two bit leaders who provoke things that arent in russian's interest. One only has to look at Egypt/Israel (Yom Kipper specifically) for all russia's faults it doesnt respond kindly to their pet states acting against their wishes. So if Chavez wants to put his eggs in Russian basket he better be aware of that.

Regardless of what one thinks of Chavez himself,It is becoming clear that many a nation is sick of America meddling in their affairs and attempting to police the world in the image of its own idea of what is right and wrong....it is all crashing down around this new Rome as the barbarians gather at the gates...remember...once great Rome though the forces arrayed against it were funny as well....
Problem is nothing Chavez says has ANY baring on that, his comments are pure paranoid nonsense packaged to justify his dictatorship goverment. And please spare the Rome comparison...

He was the first person pop into my mind when I was reading the article, or one of those terrible B- action movies from the 80s, where the villain has these phoney lines and walks around with an angry face all day.

    ....exactly right.

Shame, i don't want Venezuela/US relations to sour anymore than they are. It might hurt my chances with the super-hot Venezuelan chicks i run into all the time. They might see me as another mean'ol Yankee Americano bully. Though you wouldn't know Venezuelan women as a generality are super-hot from looking at Chavez's picture.

I only give comparison where it is due,and anyone that denies the parallels between the USD and Rome are blind to the obvious or refuse to believe it...and just as their fall came from the massing of far weaker forces in time of crisis,so we are seeing the same, the wolves gather at the edge of the forest as our power wanes further and further, and all the while the pack grows stronger, for we have made an enemy of most of the world with the belief that we would never be caught in a time of weakness...but alas this is not so...and you never know...perhaps the instigation of open warfare with the west is actually in Russia's interest...for despite the belief of the many "historians" and "Political Analysts" on TWC we really have no idea what Russia intends or what their goals may be....I think it speaks for itself that they have lent ANY sort of military presence to Chavez, for as he stated, they are there at his invite and Moscow has not said otherwise,so regardless of what we think we know of the man(because really all any of us know is what OUR government tells us,for I hazard to guess no one here has actually met him),we must accept it as true...speaking of which,it is funny that so many can so easily point and laugh at Chavez seeing as we currently hold the driver of the clown car himself as our president...and Paranoia to justify a bunk regime...sounds kind of like the chasing down of imaginary WMD's to me...at the end of the day,I do not think we should be discrediting any threat that arises...I recall the laughed at Hitler as well when he spoke of his aspirations...and Napoleon..and Caesar...and Temujin..and Hideyoshi...

    Haha, Chavez! Seriously
There's one simple reason why the Rome comparison sucks - nukes...
I agree however, that the west has already seen better days. Why do we have so many problems? Because we inhibit ourself due to our ethics. If were ruthless barbarians and dealt with our enemies accordingly, there wouldn't be so many dictators opposing the free world. It's just the Zeitgeist, opposing the western world is so terrific because we will tolerate so much.

Hatred is gained as much by good works as by evil.

I agree with your sentiment, but I am just saying it is not Chavez that one needs be concerned with,it is who Chavez knows, for just as in the First Great war,it was not the countries at the nucleus, but who they knew that really lit the keg.....Nukes..that brings me to another thing that Putin mentioned in the past..why is it that America, the only nation that actually nuked anyone,is allowed the usage of such weapons but no others are...we already showed the willingness to use not 1,but 2 nuclear weapons in the past, and I am rather sure that willingness has not faded in these difficult times

As crazy as Chavez is this is basically true. I mean the US has done some awful, despicable stuff down in Central/South America.

200,000 dead in Guatemala can't be wrong! Thanks Mr. Reagan.
